ReNEW Schools seeks a Custodian for the 2nd shift (8 hours per day) to maintain a safe, attractive, clean and efficient learning environment across classrooms, corridors, and grounds. The role requires dedication to cleanliness and timely upkeep in a school setting.
The custodian will perform cleaning, minor repairs, and routine maintenance, report needed repairs to the Head Custodian, and ensure building security at opening/closing times.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:Toperformthisjobsuccessfully,anindividualmustbeabletoperformeachessentialfunctionsatisfactorily.
Keepsbuildingandpremises,includingsidewalks,driveways,andplayareasneatandcleanatalltimes.
Performspaintingdutiesasrequired.
Shovels,plows,andsandswalks,driveways,parkingareas,andsteps,asappropriate.
Checksdailytoensurethatallexitdoorsareopenandallpanicboltsareworkingproperlyduringthehoursofbuildingoccupancy.
RaisestheUnitedStatesflagatorbefore8:00A.M.eachschoolday,andloweritatorafter3:30P.M.
Sweepsclassroomsdailyanddustfurniture.
Cleanscorridorsafterschooleachday,andduringthedaywhenconditionsrequiresit.
Scrubs,wetmopsanddisinfectrestroomfloorsdaily,andcleansallsanitaryfixturesanddrinkingfountainsdaily.
Washesallwindowsonboththeinsideandoutsideatleasttwiceeachyear,andmorefrequentlyifnecessary.
Keepsthegroundsfreefromrubbish.
Performsuchyardkeepingchoresasgrasscutting,treetrimming,andthelike,asnecessary,tomaintaintheschoolgroundsinasafeandattractive manner.
Keepsallfloorsinacleanandattractiveconditionandinagoodstateofpreservation.
Cleansallchalkboardsatleastonceaweek.
Makessuchminorbuildingrepairsashe/sheiscapableof.
ReportsmajorrepairsneededpromptlytotheHeadCustodian.
Maintainsonaregularscheduleallmotorsandothermechanicalequipmentrequiringscheduledservicing.
ReportsimmediatelytotheHeadCustodianorPrincipalanydamagetoschoolproperty.
Remains on the school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance required by the principal (except during thirty (30) minute dinner break).
Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining before leaving that all door and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
Keeps an inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel on hand, and requisitions such needed replacements from the Head Custodian far enough in advance so that they may be delivered in such time as will not hinder the custodian in his duties.
Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principal.
Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste, paints and fuels.
Assumes responsibility for the safe condition of the swimming pool, making all the necessary water tests, backwashing the filters, and refilling the pool as necessary.
Conducts periodic inspections and test of all electrical installations in the school to ensure their safe condition.
Performs any necessary clean-ups as emergency may dictate.
Sweeps, mops, wet washes, and vacuums floors in assigned areas.
Assists in monitoring student discipline as appropriate.
Other duties assigned by the principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
HighSchoolDiplomaorEquivalent.
Abilitytoplanandorganize.
Skillsinhumanrelations.
Demonstratesaptitudeforcleaning,minormechanicalrepair,andgoodworkhabits.
OtherqualificationsasdeemeddesirablebytheSchoolBoard.
SuchalternativestotheabovequalificationsastheBoardofSchoolTrusteesmayfindappropriateandapprove.
PHYSICALDEMANDS:Thephysicaldemandsdescribedherearerepresentativeofthosethatmustbemetbyanemployeetoperformtheessentialfunctionsofthisjobsuccessfully.Reasonableaccommodationsmaybemadetoenableindividualswithdisabilitiestoperformtheessentialfunctionsofthejob.
