Job summary

Nashua School District in Nashua, NH is seeking a Custodian 2nd Shift Grade 1 - Split to support two elementary schools. The role runs year round from 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday, starting ASAP, at Ledge Street and Sunset Heights Elementary.

You will assist the Head Custodian with cleaning, floor care, window washing, light bulb changes, moving furniture, minor repairs, snow removal, and cafeteria duties.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• One year's experience in janitorial routines.
• Physical ability to walk, bend and stand for long periods, climb stairs and ladders, crawl in confined spaces, shovel, and lift and carry objects weighing a minimum of 100 lbs with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Custodian in maintaining the school building and grounds in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
• Sweep and mop floors; wash windows and glass partitions; check and change light bulbs; assist with moving furniture and equipment; perform minor emergency repairs.
• Aide in emergency cleanups; report problems; assist with snow removal near entrances; assist in cafeteria operations; perform other duties as assigned by the Head Custodian or Plant Operations Supervisor.

Custodian 2nd Shift Grade 1 - Split

LOCATION: Ledge Street Elementary School / Sunset Heights Elementary School

WORK YEAR: Year Round: 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM (Monday through Friday)

STARTING: ASAP

SALARY RANGE: $22.04/hr. after 90 day probationary period. (during probationary period, the wage rate will be $2.00 less per hour )

(All Grade 1 Custodians hired on or after 11/01/2019 shall be hired with a "District Wide" custodial designation per Union Agreement.)

Qualifications

High school education or equivalent. One year's experience in janitorial routines. Physical ability to perform assigned duties which includes the ability to walk, bend and stand for long periods of time, climb stairs and ladders, crawl in confined spaces, shovel, work at a minimum height of 15 to 20 feet above ground, lift and carry objects weighing a minimum of 100 lbs (with assistance) and the ability to work with a variety of cleaning, snow removal and lawn care equipment and products, and construction/maintenance related adhesives and products.

Summary Of Responsibilities

Assist the Head Custodian in maintaining the school building and grounds in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Sweep and mop floors in assigned building areas; wash windows and glass partitions; check and change light bulbs as needed; assist with the moving of furniture and equipment; perform minor emergency repairs; routinely maintain and have a working knowledge of all required janitorial equipment; aide in emergency cleanups; report problems observed in and around the building such as vandalism to the Custodian; assist with snow removal near building entrances when required; assist in the cafeteria operations daily; perform any other job related duties as may be assigned by the Head Custodian or Plant Operations Supervisor.
