The Nashua School District seeks a Custodian for the 2nd shift at Fairgrounds Middle School. Start date is November 2, 2026, with a wage of $22.04/hr after a 90-day probation (probation rate is $2.00 less per hour).

Qualified candidates have at least a high school education or equivalent and one year of janitorial experience. Position requires physical dexterity and ability to perform demanding duties in a school environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with moving furniture and equipment; perform minor emergency repairs.
• Maintain and operate janitorial equipment; aid in emergency cleanups and snow removal as required.
• Support cafeteria operations and other job-related duties as assigned.

POSITION: Custodian2nd Shift Grade 1
LOCATION: Fairgrounds Middle School
(All Grade 1 Custodians hired on or after 11/01/2019 shall be hired with a "District Wide" custodial designation per Union Agreement.)
WORK YEAR: Year Round: 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM (Monday through Friday)
STARTING: November 2, 2026
SALARY RANGE: $22.04/hr. (Grade 1) after 90 day probationary period.
(during probationary period, the wage rate will be $2.00 less per hour )
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school education or equivalent. One year's experience in janitorial routines. Physical ability to perform assigned duties which includes the ability to walk, bend and stand for long periods of time, climb stairs and ladders, crawl in confined spaces, shovel, work at a minimum height of 15 to 20 feet above ground, lift and carry objects weighing a minimum of 100 lbs. (with assistance) and the ability to work with a variety of cleaning, snow removal and lawn care equipment and products, and construction/maintenance related adhesives and products.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Head Custodian in maintaining the school building and grounds in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Sweep and mop floors in assigned building areas; wash windows and glass partitions; check and change light bulbs as needed; assist with the moving of furniture and equipment; perform minor emergency repairs; routinely maintain and have a working knowledge of all required janitorial equipment; aide in emergency cleanups; report problems observed in and around the building such as vandalism to the Custodian; assist with snow removal near building entrances when required; assist in the cafeteria operations daily; perform any other job related duties as may be assigned by the Head Custodian or Plant Operations Supervisor.
