Job summary

Lennox School District is seeking a Custodian Substitute in Worthing, SD. The role involves maintaining classrooms, offices, and facilities in a clean and orderly condition and in good repair.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Prior custodial experience preferred or related experiences.
• Interest in learning basic maintenance skills in carpentry, electrical and plumbing.
• Possess personal communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse of individuals.
• Work record showing consistent attendance and work habits.
• Background checks required for final candidates.
• Other qualifications the board may find acceptable and appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, wax, and vacuum floors.
• Refinish floors as required.
• Dust and polish furniture and woodwork.
• Clean, sand, refinish and adjust desks and other furniture.
• Empty and clean waste receptacles.
• Clean restrooms.
• Wash windows and walls.
• Polish metal surfaces.
• Maintenance and non-technical repair of equipment.
• Assist with moving and arranging furniture and equipment.
• Set up auditoriums or classrooms for meetings or events.
• Replace light bulbs.
• Paint as required.
• Basic plumbing as required.
• Basic carpentry as required.
• Ensure hazards to safety of students, teachers, and visitors are removed/repaired.
• Ensure broken/weak chairs, desks, tables repaired or removed until fixed.
• Additional duties as required.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

To maintain assigned classrooms, office spaces, and other facility areas in a clean, orderly manner and in state of good repair.

REPORTS TO

Director of Buildings and Grounds and Building Principal

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Sweeping, mopping, waxing, and vacuuming floors.
2. Refinish floors as required.
3. Dusting, polishing furniture and other woodwork.
4. Clean, sand, refinish and adjust desks and other furniture.
5. Empty and clean waste receptacles.
6. Clean restrooms.
7. Wash windows and walls.
8. Polishing metal surfaces.
9. Maintenance and non-technical repair of equipment.
10. Assist with moving, arranging furniture and equipment.
11. Set up auditoriums or classrooms for special meetings or events.
12. Replace light bulbs.
13. Painting as required.
14. Basic plumbing as required.
15. Basic carpentry as required.
16. Sees that all hazards to the safety of the students, teachers, and visitors are removed and/or repaired.
17. Sees that broken or weakened chairs, desks, tables, or other equipment are repaired and/or removed from active service until repair or replacement is completed.
18. Additional duties that may be required or assigned.

This position is responsible to the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
