Job summary

Pioneer Human Services is seeking a part-time Custodian to work Thursday through Sunday, 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM in Seattle. The role focuses on safety, cleanliness, and supporting structured programming for residents.

You will perform janitorial duties and participate in maintaining a healthy living environment. Qualifications include a CPR/First Aid certification (or within two months of hire) and an intermediate level of computer use (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Qualifications

• Formal education not required.
• Current CPR/First AID Certification or within two months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned/scheduled janitorial duties.
• Remove garbage from each floor at shift start/end and transport to disposal areas.
• Clean common area floors (vacuum, sweep, mop, wax as needed).
• Clean and sanitize lavatories and wash basins; clean mirrors and walls.
• Complete pre-approved maintenance items; report issues to Facility Manager.
• Maintain an inventory of supplies; perform monthly inspections.
• Respond to residents’ concerns and provide assistance as indicated.

Compensation/Perks

New hires for this position typically start between $21.50 and $25.80 hourly, depending on factors such as work location, experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, internal equity, and market conditions. While the full pay range is provided to support pay transparency, individual compensation will vary within the range based on these factors.

What you’ll do

The Custodian is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of residents, staff and visitors; and provides quality services and structured programming designed to promote successful community living. As a member of the PHS team committed to the mission and vision of top-notch programs, the Custodian performs assigned/scheduled janitorial duties.

Maintain Program & Facility Safety

• Remove garbage from each floor at the beginning at end of shift. This requires transporting the cans on wheels to the garbage compactors and recycling bins. Additionally, this requires bringing the larger containers to the street periodically throughout the week.
• Clean common area floors including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and waxing as needed.
• Clean and sanitize lavatories and wash basins, clean mirrors, walls, and wash room floors.
• Complete pre-approved maintenance items as requested
• Report any maintenance problems or issues identified while conducting building rounds in a timely manner to the Facility Manager.

Maintain Documentation

• Maintain an inventory of supplies needed to perform required duties.
• Perform monthly inspections as requested.

Participant Engagement

• Respond to residents’ concerns, and provide assistance as indicated.

What You'll Bring (required Qualifications)

• Formal education not required
• Intermediate level of computer proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook,
• Current CPR/First AID Certification or within two months of hire.

Preferably You'll Bring (preferred/desirable Qualifications)

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in janitorial/custodial work.
• One-year experience in human services, preferably working with homeless adults, the economically disadvantaged, mentally health disorders or chemically dependent.
