Job description

POSITION: Custodian

FACILITY: Pensacola Saenger Theatre

DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager, Custodial Supervisor or Designee

FLSA STATUS: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

The Custodian will participate in the Saenger Theatre’s physical cleaning, sweeping, scrubbing, and mopping; set up and tear‑down of equipment and furniture by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform custodial tasks including sweeping, mopping, cleaning and scrubbing as well as exterior cleaning of steps, sidewalks and arcade.
• Prepare facility rooms for events/shows by setting chairs, tables, risers, pipe & drape set‑ups, and counters as assigned.
• Clean interior and exterior glass.
• Use equipment as required upon completion of training.
• Clean and prepare floors, carpets, restrooms and other areas as necessary.
• Clean and polish furniture.
• Dispose of all waste, including bulk trash removal from hall, and participate in recycling program as required.
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous custodial experience and/or experience in a service‑related field preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with the initiative to maintain the facility.
• Physical ability to perform required duties, including operating cleaning equipment, walking up and down stairs, lifting, setting and moving equipment such as tables, chairs, easels, risers, pipe & drape, and related items; ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to read and understand English and understand verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to operate two‑way radio equipment.
• Interact with guests, vendors, and staff in a friendly, courteous, and polite manner.
• Work flexible hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Location: On Site at Pensacola Saenger Theatre, Pensacola, FL

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The position requires work in both indoor and outdoor settings and may be subjected to adverse conditions.
