Orange County Public Schools is seeking a custodian to perform daily custodial tasks at an assigned school. Under general supervision, you will help provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for staff, students, and visitors, with responsibilities spanning cleaning, sanitizing, and minor maintenance.
Responsibilities include using cleaning equipment, applying safety standards, responding to emergencies, and coordinating with supervisors for equipment upkeep and event setups.
Salary Schedule
Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform custodial tasks for an assigned school of the district. Employees in this class are responsible for accomplishing a daily routine of custodial tasks that provide school personnel, students, and the public with an environmentally safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to work and conduct school activities. Performs related work as directed.
High school diploma or GED preferred; supplemented by any previous experience demonstrating ability to safely and effectively operate standard facility custodial equipment, and ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Note Effective January 2017 to December 2019, there has been a temporary stay on the IPCS assessment for this position
Effective March 19, 2007, all new hires to this position must successfully complete the Industrial Physical Capability Screening (IPCS); previous incumbents holding this position without a break in service are not required to have this screening.

Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate odors. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate depths. Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination.
Tasks are regularly performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as strong odors, fumes, dusts, wetness, humidity, machinery, vibrations, temperature and noise extremes, disease, pathogenic substances, and toxic/poisonous agents.
