2nd Shift Custodian

Manchester, IA

Summary

The Second Shift Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly facility through routine cleaning, sanitation, and general maintenance. This position requires dependability, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while taking pride in maintaining a well-kept environment.

Essential Job Duties

1. Sweep, dust mop, wet mop, and vacuum floors; clean carpets and rugs as needed.
2. Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, offices, locker rooms, common areas, and other assigned spaces; replenish supplies as needed.
3. Empty trash and recycling, clean glass surfaces, and disinfect frequently touched areas.
4. Maintain clean and orderly entrances, hallways, stairways, and other high-traffic areas.
5. Monitor facilities for maintenance needs, damage, and safety concerns; report issues and perform minor repairs as assigned.
6. Properly operate, clean, and maintain custodial equipment and supplies.
7. Follow established safety procedures for handling, storing, and using cleaning chemicals.
8. Secure assigned areas and follow building security procedures at the end of the shift.
9. Prepare facilities for daily operations, meetings, and special events, including cleaning and setup as needed.
10. Perform seasonal and periodic deep-cleaning projects, including floor and carpet care.
11. Respond to custodial requests and work cooperatively with management and maintenance staff.
12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred; previous custodial or cleaning experience highly preferred.
2. Ability to work independently and as part of a team while following written and verbal instructions.
3. Ability to safely operate and maintain custodial equipment.
4. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
5. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs.
6. Ability to lift and carry supplies up to 50 pounds and push or pull custodial carts and equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
