Job summary

Ocean View Environmental Services is seeking a Custodian for a full-time role at our Long Beach facility. The position supports a 79-bed adult inpatient program with private rooms and a focus on a clean, safe environment aligned with OSHA standards.

Responsibilities include floor care, dusting, waste management, window washing, furniture movement, and reporting needs to the Supervisor. The role requires flexibility for weekend shifts and a 3-day, 12-hour schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months of healthcare, hotel, motel, or similar environment experience preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish or other languages commonly spoken by the patient population preferred.

• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, buffs, strips, waxes, shampoos, and cleans floor surfaces.
• Cleans and dusts furniture, closets, telephones, vents; polishes and sanitizes sinks, counters, and stainless surfaces.
• Empties waste receptacles; cleans solid waste containers.
• Washes windows and walls; may remove draperies, rugs, and bulky items.
• Moves and arranges furniture for cleaning or presentation.
• Reports defective furniture and equipment to the Supervisor.
• Maintains equipment and utility closets in a clean, orderly manner.
• Performs tasks using infection control techniques.

Our Long Beach facility currently operates as a 79-bed adult voluntary acute inpatient program, offering private rooms and individualized treatment delivered by a multidisciplinary team. We are dedicated to best practices and person-centered care, supporting each patient's journey toward stability and recovery. To promote continuity of care beyond inpatient treatment, we also offer Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs tailored to meet each individual's clinical needs. We are also actively expanding our services across Southern California, with our new San Bernardino campus expected to open later this year.

Schedule & Hours:

• This position operates on a rotating 3-day, 12-hour shift schedule that includes a combination of weekdays and weekends. Reliability and flexibility for weekend rotations are required
• Shifts available are 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM

Position Summary

Ocean View Environmental Services Custodians staff play crucial roles on our team. Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer and Hospital Administrator, ESCs perform a variety of tasks to ensure that the facility is in a clean, orderly, sanitary, and attractive condition. Key Responsibilities

• Cleans and dusts furniture, closets, telephones, vents and scour, polish and sanitize sinks, counters, stainless surfaces and waste receptacles.
• Empties waste receptacles; cleans solid waste containers.
• Wash windows and walls; may remove draperies, rugs, and other bulky items.
• Moves and arranges furniture as needed for cleaning or presentation purposes.
• Reports defective furniture and equipment needed for repairs to the Supervisor.
• Maintains essential equipment and utility closets in a clean and orderly manner.
• Perform tasks using appropriate infection control techniques.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of six months of experience in a healthcare, hotel, motel, or similar environment preferred.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills across disciplines and departments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of six months of experience in behavioral health, healthcare, or hospital setting (role-specific equivalent acceptable).

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• Frequent walking, standing, twisting, and bending are required.
• Must possess adequate auditory capacity to communicate clearly and follow verbal instructions.
• May be required to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Depending on assignment of position may be required to work in a locked unit with juveniles, formerly incarcerated, and individuals assigned to guardianship who have complex social, and psycho-social needs; may be assigned to evening or night shift, assigned to work weekends, and to work holidays as needed as Ocean View is a 24-hour, 7 day a week facility and coverage is essential; environment can be noisy and sporadically chaotic, and may be exposed to hostile patients and profanity.

• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of Live Scan fingerprinting, background check clearance, and verification of required licenses, certifications, and education
