Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. in Las Cruces, NM, seeks a dependable team member to perform housekeeping, material handling, and sanitation duties in our dairy facility. You will operate a forklift, stock supplies, maintain records, and follow GMP, HACCP, and 5S standards while supporting audits and cross-training as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1–2 years of demonstrated work experience in food manufacturing, dairy preferred.
  • Advanced quality/food safety training or certifications a plus, not required.
  • Familiarity with food manufacturing acronyms (SQF, HACCP, SOP, 5S, GMP).
  • Strong math skills and ability to read measurements and production records.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification (Class I–V) if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform housekeeping activities within defined schedules for both interior and exterior facility areas.
  • Move pallets, containers, and materials using forklift, pallet jack, or hand truck.
  • Conduct sanitation, waste handling, and GMP-related tasks.
  • Stock supplies in break rooms, restrooms, and GMP stock locations; maintain drinking water supplies.
  • Complete records and documents accurately; support audits and cross-training as needed.

How you will make contributions that matter...

  • Perform good housekeeping activities within established housekeeping schedules as defined by area/department, this includes defined internal and external areas of facility.
  • Perform material handling, moving pallets, containers, materials with hand truck, pallet jack or forklift.
  • Perform routine office and plant organization storage activities.
  • Perform facilities sanitation controls (garbage, waste, recycling) activities.
  • Accurately complete housekeeping schedule and documents.
  • Stock supplies in restrooms, employee breakrooms, conference rooms, visitor stations, and GMP stock supply locations throughout the facility.
  • Inventory, replenish and maintain fresh drinking water supply, to include cleaning and maintaining drinking water equipment.
  • Perform case hand stack and product rework operations as needed.
  • Follow all established cross-contamination prevention protocols, 5S and facility GMP Equipment and Utensils color-code system.
  • Support all company visitor and employee relations activities to include conference room set-up, supplies, meal/beverage preparation and clean-up activities.
  • Safe operation of a forklift, safe material handling operations.
  • Accurately and neatly complete company records and documents.
  • Perform environmental controls.
  • Follow Blood Borne Pathogens program requirements and safe methods for protection and disposal.
  • Perform product reclaim and rework operations in accordance with reclaim guidelines.
  • Perform manual product hand stacking / palletizing activities as necessary.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Follow all established occupational health and safety procedures.
  • Follow all established GMP’s and Food Safety requirements.
  • Cross-train and act as back-up for Palletizer and Utility positions.
  • Comply with federal, state and local dairy food regulations.
  • Adhere to the Saputo Code of Ethics, actively apply the Saputo Company Values and Workplace Climate Policy.
  • Work together with co-workers and other department personnel.
  • Other duties as required by management.

You are best suited for the role if you…

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of (1)-two years of demonstrated work experience in food manufacturing, dairy food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Advanced quality/food safety training and/or certifications is a plus, but not required.
  • A working understanding of food manufacturing acronyms (SQF, HACCP, SOP, 5S, GMP)
  • Strong math skills.
  • Strong technical skills, ability to operate and understand equipment controls, touch panels and mechanical operations.
  • Ability to obtain a forklift certification, classes I-V to include pallet trucks.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be self-motivated, work independently or in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated work history.
  • Good attendance is a must.
