Job Summary

Assists with the operations and functions of the Department ofPlant Operations primarily to keep buildings and surrounding areasclean.

Job Duties

Performs routine cleaning tasks, such as mopping, vacuumingcarpets, dusting, assists in moving and arranging of furniture andequipment. Cleans interior glass, wall partitions and interior andexterior windows. Removes disposable waste materials from buildingsand premises; recycles per VSCC Recycling Guidelines. Performsprimary daily functions of cleaning and restocking supplies inclassrooms, restrooms, offices, public areas and supply areas.Ensures proper care, use, and performs routine maintenance onequipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement ofworkplace safety and good environmental practices. Perform routinefloor care to hard surface and carpeted floors. Routinely completessetups for events/meetings. Works well with other custodians towardthe timely accomplishment of group projects and team set-ups. Otherduties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

High School diploma or GED equivalent.

One (1) year verifiable custodial or janitorial experience in abusiness or education environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to properly operate and maintain custodial equipment.

Ability to correctly use/administer chemicals and supplies.

Ability to understand written and verbal communications.

Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures toinclude disposal procedures of hazardous materials.

Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects up to 50 lbs.

Ability to operate a computer in order to fill out timesheets andperform other required Safety and Human Resource training.

Pay Rate

$32,136 - $34,196 annual salarydepending on experience
