Job summary

BASIS Ed in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Custodian to start ASAP to maintain a clean, safe, and well‑functioning school facility. The role includes repairs across plumbing, electrical, HVAC and safety systems, plus responding to staff requests for custodial needs and equipment.

The position requires thoughtful, independent work, strong communication, and the ability to manage vendors and assist with school events.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years of facilities & building maintenance experience.
• Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Ability to lift 25–50 lbs.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Adaptable to change and able to implement procedures.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and safety systems.
• Respond to staff requests for maintenance and custodial services, equipment needs, and HVAC adjustments.
• Coordinate third‑party vendors for maintenance and custodial services, HVAC, landscaping, and pest control.
• Ensure grounds are maintained free from litter and debris.
• Assess and repair maintenance issues and document work.
• Maintain files on work orders, proposals, and facility-related documents.
• Support school events by providing needed equipment and setup.
• Act as campus safety manager for traffic and emergency response.
• Maintain the emergency preparedness program.
• Support the Head of Operations on other projects and tasks.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for repairs of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and safety systems
• Responds to staff requests for maintenance, custodial services, equipment needs, furniture movement, and HVAC
• Coordinates third party vendors for maintenance agreements, custodial services, HVAC large repairs, landscaping, and pest control
• Ensures grounds are maintained fee from litter and debris
• Assess and repair maintenance issues
• Maintain file on work orders, proposals, and all other facilities related file
• Support school events conducted at the facility and provide needed equipment and set-up
• Acts as the campus safety manager for traffic and emergency response
• Maintain Emergency preparedness program
• Support the Head of Operations on other projects and tasks
