Job summary

The City of Fishers is hiring enthusiastic Custodians to keep the Fishers Community Center sparkling and welcoming for every visitor. This regular part-time or supplemental role offers flexible hours, on-site work, and training if needed.

No prior experience required; duties include cleaning offices, restrooms, floors, and reporting incidents. A free Community Center membership is included as a benefit. Training will be provided to ensure safety and readiness.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Utilize standard equipment/products to perform a variety of custodial duties.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions, complete work logs, and read and interpret MSDS.
• Adult CPR/AED, First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within the first 60 days. Training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of general custodian duties to maintain offices, break rooms, restrooms, program rooms, common areas, etc.
• Clean, dust in high and low areas including elevators, and office fixtures.
• Clean floors/carpets by sweeping, vacuuming, spot mopping, running automatic scrubber and carpet spotter machine.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and ensure proper stocking of supplies.
• Wash windows, walls, partitions, baseboards, doors and fixtures using cleaning agents and equipment.
• Keep and maintain work logs and records.
• Inventory cleaning supplies and equipment periodically.
• Ensure safety of patrons and act as first responder in emergencies, providing first aid or CPR as needed.

This essential role helps ensure our facility runs smoothly and leaves every visitor with great experience. Examples of Duties

• Perform a variety of general custodian duties to maintain offices, break rooms, restrooms, program rooms, common areas, etc. according to a set schedule and in accordance with building, health, and safety standards.
• Clean, dust in high and low areas including elevators, and office fixtures.
• Clean floors/carpets by sweeping, vacuuming, spot mopping, running automatic scrubber and carpet spotter machine.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and ensure that restrooms are properly stocked with appropriate levels of supplies.
• Wash windows, walls, partitions, baseboards, doors and door handles, drinking fountains, light fixtures, trash receptacles, air vent fixtures, etc. using a variety of cleaning agents, disinfectants, and equipment.
• Keep and maintain work logs and records.
• Inventory all cleaning supplies and equipment on a periodic basis.
• Ensure safety of patrons and be prepared to take charge in an emergency if necessary. Act as a first responder in the event of an emergency, providing immediate assistance, administering first aid or CPR as needed, and following proper emergency protocols to ensure member and staff safety.
• Report any emergencies immediately and complete accident reports as necessary. Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Utilize standard equipment/products to perform a variety of custodial duties.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions, complete work logs, and read and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Must have an Adult CPR/AED, First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within the first 60 days. Training will be provided.
