Job summary

Mt. Blue Regional School District - RSU 9 in Farmington, ME, is seeking a full-time Custodian for Mt. Blue Middle School to maintain a safe, clean learning environment and support district operations.

The role requires physical work, ability to lift up to 40 lbs., and a willingness to work a second shift. Starting wages range from $22.05 to $26.04 per hour, with W-2 employment and district benefits as applicable.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Wear proper uniform attire and maintain its condition
• Follow district policies and contractual obligations with a professional attitude
• Follow time clock procedures
• Wear required PPE
• Participate in Driving Dynamics course per State and District requirements
• Become CPR certified and maintain certification
• Perform general custodial duties at assigned locations
• Maintain custodial cart and closet inventory of materials and supplies
• Perform emergency custodial duties during the school day as scheduled
• Replace materials in areas maintained by Custodial Services
• Keep the building safe, neat and orderly
• Assist in grounds maintenance to keep areas free of litter
• Operate and clean machinery safely and properly
• Know and follow all emergency procedures of the building
• Provide input on materials, equipment and maintenance needs
• Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) usage
• Perform additional duties as directed by Lead Custodian/Operations Supervisor/Director of Transportation and Custodial Services

Performance Responsibilities

• Wear proper uniform attire and maintains serviceability


• Be able to follow district policies; contractual obligations with professional attitude


• Follow all necessary requirements of time clock procedures


• Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE)


• Participate in the Driving Dynamics course as recommended by the State and required by the District.


• Must become CPR certified; and maintain certification throughout employment


• Perform general custodial duties at the assigned location(s).


• Provide an adequate custodial inventory of materials and supplies on your custodial cart and closet.


• Perform emergency custodial duties during the school day (if scheduled).


• Replace materials as needed in areas that are maintained by Custodial Services


• Maintain the building in a safe, neat and orderly fashion.


• Help keep the grounds and play areas free from litter.


• Use proper operation and cleaning methods for any machinery or equipment


• Use proper cleaning methods for spaces that you are responsible for


• Assume responsibility for the general security of the building.


• Assume responsibility for the general fire safety of the building.


• Maintain communication between the Lead Custodian in regards to building needs or problems


• Report maintenance issues to the Lead Custodian


• Participate in any professional development the district offers for Custodial Services


• Become familiar with all emergency procedures of the building including valves, switches and other building equipment.


• Offer input to the Lead Custodian and/or Operations Supervisor in regards to materials, equipment, procedures, and maintenance needs


• Know and understand the use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).


• Perform additional duties as directed by the Lead Custodian, Operations Supervisor, Director of Transportation and Custodial Services and/or their designee.

Education

• High School graduate or GED preferred

Working Schedule

• Full-time, year round position; includes storm days, summer breaks, scrub weeks


• This position is a 40 hour per week position; there may be some hours in excess of pre-established hours. The position is primarily a 2nd shift position; there may be some required change to shifts based on district needs to cover leave requests and special projects.

Rates

• Starting at $22.05 -26.04 per hour.


• All wages based on the Support Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement

Travel Requirements

• Travel between schools or district buildings may be required for certain positions

Reports To: Operations Supervisor, Director of Transportation and Custodial Services or his/her designee.

Terms of Employment: As determined annually by the District.

Evaluation: Completed annually Operations Supervisor or designee
