City of Alice is seeking a full-time custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for staff and the public across City Hall, the Alice Police Department, and the Municipal Courtroom as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a Texas driver’s license, and at least 1 year of experience cleaning industrial office spaces. You will clean restrooms, floors, windows, and perform setup and routine equipment maintenance.

Responsabilidades

• Clean and sanitize restroom facilities using established practices and procedures.
• Refill restroom dispensers (towels, toilet tissue, air fresheners, and urinal cakes).
• Clean, dust, and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Sweep, mop, polish, and buff floors.
• Empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
• Wash windows and glass doors, inside and outside.
• Vacuum and spot-cleans carpets.
• Replace lights or bulbs in main floor, offices, workroom, restrooms, conference rooms and kitchen.
• Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, conferences, events, etc.
• Perform routine maintenance of housekeeping equipment.
• Maintain outside walk areas, including sweeping debris and washing walkways.
• Maintenance of landscape: waters, cut and trim shrubs and grass.
• Rakes and dispose of leaves.
• Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Primary Purpose: Under general direction, maintains a clean working environment for all staff and visitors, ensuring all areas are safe and inviting. This position requires performance of a variety of tasks mainly in the maintenance of City Hall, occasionally the Alice Police Department and the Alice Municipal Courtroom, and other facilities or grounds as assigned. Will be in contact with the public and city staff and required to act courteously in all situations.

Education/Certification:

High School diploma or GED is preferred

Experience:

Major responsibilities and duties at all assigned buildings:

Tools/Equipment Used: Broom, mop, carpet cleaner (manual & electric), dollies, utility carts, ladders, various hand tools used for cleaning and landscaping;

Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; climbing; crawling; carrying

Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding; grasping/squeezing, wrist and finger flexion/extension, and overhead reaching;

Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (50 pounds and over) on a daily basis

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, insects, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, and vibration; may work alone; occasional prolonged or irregular hours
