Job summary

The University of Florida on Main Campus in Gainesville, FL is seeking a Custodial Worker I for a full-time role. You will perform daily cleaning of offices, classrooms, restrooms, and shared spaces, and maintain floors, glass surfaces, and public areas in accordance with Building Services SOPs.

The 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM schedule may include overtime for events; this essential personnel position offers stability within Facilities Services.

Qualifications

• Completion of ninth grade.
• High school diploma and two years of commercial custodial experience.
• Must complete training prescribed by Facilities Services Training and Education Department.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains halls, offices, shops, classrooms, restrooms, conference rooms, labs, gym areas, locker rooms, elevators.
• Cleans floors and floor coverings including vacuuming, shampooing, striping, sealing and waxing.
• Cleans entrances, walkways, steps, patios, and concourses.
• Cleans exterior and interior glass surfaces and ceiling lights.

Job Description

Cleans and maintains on a daily basis all halls, offices, shops, classrooms, restrooms, conference rooms, labs, gym areas, locker rooms, elevators which includes sweeping, dusting, dust-mopping, wetmopping, spot-mopping, reconditioning of floors and spot washing and cleaning of walls, doors, and partitions.

Cleans and maintains all floors and floor coverings which includes regular duties such as vacuuming, shampooing, striping, sealing and waxing.

Cleans all entrances, entrances walks, steps, patios, and concourses.

Spot cleans and cleans all exterior and interior glass surfaces of all assigned buildings; cleans ceiling lights and Venetian blinds.

Empties and cleans all waste cans, trashcans, recycle bins, water fountains and doormats.

Required to complete training prescribed by Facilities Services Training and Education Department, and the University’s Compliance Training.

Required to follow and adhere to all Building Services Standard Operating Procedures, and Facilities Services Policies and Directives.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE

5AM – 1:30 PM (Monday through Friday).

Workdays and shift times may vary in response to customer needs for special event coverage and/or departmental needs. Some overtime may be required.

Total hours per week is 40.

Management retains the right and discretion to modify schedules, building assignments, shifts and/or days for operational purposes.

Position is considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy.

$15.00 Hourly based on experience.
