Job summary

CiTi BOCES in New York is seeking a dependable custodian to perform cleaning and building maintenance across school facilities.

Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, dusting, sanitizing, waste handling, and light repairs; a valid driver's license and civil service eligibility are required. You will follow simple instructions and work well with others in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

• Must be Civil Service eligible and have a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
• Willingness to perform routine cleaning and other manual tasks.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and mop floors and stairs; vacuum carpets.
• Dust desks, woodwork, furniture and other equipment; clean glass.
• Wash windows, walls, blackboards, sinks and other fixtures.
• Polish furniture and metal furnishings.
• Empty waste baskets, collect and dispose of rubbish and replace liners.
• Clear snow and ice from walkways.
• Mow lawns, trim shrubs, rake leaves and perform other grounds-keeping tasks.
• Deliver packages and messages.
• Arrange chairs and tables and other equipment for special use of school building.
• Repair window shades, replace light bulbs, soap and towels.
• Paint rooms and equipment and assist in minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs.
• Sanitize door handles, desk/table tops.
• Clean bathrooms, restock toilet paper, paper towels, and soap supplies.
• Ensure rooms or building are locked after cleaning is done.
