Work Schedule: Mon - Fri, 6:30am - 8:30am, Sat 6:30am - 12pm. Ability to work up to 18.5 hours or more weekly based on scheduling needs.

General Description/Summary

Under the supervisor of the Program Manager the Custodial Supervisor is responsible for providing support, assistance, and guidance to individuals with significant disabilities that will enable the individual to develop work skills and enhance their ability to communicate with customers in a workplace environment. Through the support and guidance given to individuals with significant disabilities, they will be able to advance their knowledge, skills, and interpersonal skills, opening a variety of opportunities including upward mobility. Additionally, The Janitorial Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of janitorial staff across various locations within the healthcare system. This role involves direct supervision of cleaning staff, ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation standards are met, and assisting the Project Manager in implementing quality control measures and safety protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Staff Supervision: Directly supervise janitorial staff, including scheduling, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing on-the-job training and support.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure cleaning standards are met. Address any deficiencies with staff and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all janitorial activities comply with OSHA safety standards and VA‑specific regulations. Train staff on the proper use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Inventory Management:Oversee the inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stocks are maintained and properly stored. Coordinate with the Project Manager to replenish supplies as needed.
  • Communication: Serve as a key point of contact between the janitorial team and the Program Manager. Relay information, updates, and instructions effectively to the team.
  • Problem Resolution: Address any immediate issues or concerns raised by the cleaning staff or VA facility personnel. Escalate complex issues to the Program Manager for resolution.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of staff attendance, cleaning schedules, inspections, and other documentation required for contract compliance and quality control.
  • Emergency Response: Assist in implementing emergency preparedness plans, ensuring staff are trained to respond to emergencies and maintain cleaning services during adverse conditions.
Qualifications (Skills and Abilities):
  • Proven experience as a supervisor in janitorial services, facility maintenance, or a related field, preferably in healthcare or government settings.
  • Floor Tech experience, ability to operate Floor cleaning machinery a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Knowledge of cleaning standards, infection control, and environmental safety practices in healthcare environments.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the facility's operational needs.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems; online calendars and cloud systems; intermediate to advanced skills Microsoft office products required
  • Excellent attention to detail; accurate data entry

  • Must have a valid driver's license with no more than two points.

Mon - Fri, 6:30am - 8:30am (Mandatory)
Sat - 6:30am - 12pm (may rotate every other week)
10 hours a week mandatory, Sat hours can be rotating (every other week) with a possibility of up to 18.5 hours a week or more. Based on scheduling needs.
