Job summary

Stride, Inc. seeks a Curriculum Design Leader to join the Galvanize Academic Team as an individual contributor, guiding curriculum review, scope-and-sequence creation, and template iteration across Galvanize technology programs.

You will collaborate with academic staff, instructors, and product teams to audit, design, and standardize curriculum across products, applying adult learning science and innovative assessment strategies.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of formal or informal education and curriculum design experience OR Combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, and Kanban methodologies.

SUMMARY

We are searching for an experienced curriculum design leader to join our Galvanize Academic Team as an individual contributor to our product successes. In collaboration with an Academic Team and Managing Lead Instructors across Galvanize programs, the curriculum designer will lead review, scope and sequence creation, template iteration, curriculum mapping, and other cross-organizational championing of big-picture curriculum efforts for all Galvanize technology programs. The curriculum design leader will endeavor to stay apprised of trends and critical research in curriculum design and technology (primarily software engineering) education, engaging with subject matter experts, outlining potential, meta-level learning objectives, and providing feasible timeframes in an audit and iteration cycle of the portfolio of Galvanize curricula. Additionally, the curriculum design leader will bring expertise to maintaining, informing, and intersecting with our Learning Management System (Learn). To be successful as a Curriculum Design Leader, you should understand: principles of adult learning science and epistemology, how to effectively standardize design efforts sans homogenization of curriculum across products, effectively lead diverse subject matter experts and teams to contribute to design, auditing, and iteration efforts that ultimately impact our student outcomes and myriad professional successes. Outstanding candidates have strong project management abilities and excellent technical writing, research, and communication skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Conduct research and collaborate with external education professionals, instructors, Galvanize Career Services team members, software engineering subject experts, data scientists and analysts, technology industry experts, and other professionals to drive the design of quality curricula and learning resources. Establish feasible and standardized timeframes and processes to audit, design, iterate, evaluate for efficacy, and champion curriculum models and planning processes across the Galvanize organization, effectively driving scope and sequence work in all curriculum mapping efforts. Create stimulating lesson plan templates and design expectations; driving active learning and problem/project-based learning principles and innovative assessment and evaluation strategies to gauge learner progress. Create a repository of supplementary instructor and student guides, as well as resource packs that extend curriculum assets among and across Galvanize products. Expand networks of curriculum designers, industry trend setters, and other professionals internally and externally. Cultivate a culture of feedback, reflection, and innovation from students, instructors, and other Galvanize stakeholders to consistently champion curriculum design and assessment efforts. Monitor meta-level student progress and sentiment across products to make relevant and urgent changes to curricula in sync with evolving career opportunity trends. Lead cross-organization engagement among team members, including active instructors, in an effort to crowd source auditing, review, and iteration of larger scale curriculum changes. Collaborate with the Academic Team members and contribute to overall goals of the Academic Team. Engage with product teams and the Galvanize Regulatory team to inform curriculum design with accommodations and accessibility practices and standards. Contribute to supporting additional academic priorities at Galvanize in varied forms as needed (direct instruction/lesson delivery, observe and inform instructional quality, present professional development sessions, contribute to new product design efforts, etc.).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

2-5 years of formal or informal education and curriculum design experience OR Combination of education and experience

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong familiarity with software engineering skills and relevant development tools. Experience with industry-standard software development and project management practices and methodologies like Agile, Scrum, and Kanban. Particular experience designing and measuring efficacy of curricula for adult learners (and experience with curriculum guide creation for non-professional educators preferred). Demonstrated experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities into the curriculum and instructional design efforts in an organization.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree Experience in instructional design, content development, or instructional coaching is also preferred. Capable of captivating students and staff with engaging curriculum, lessons, and activities. Ability to analyze and model student progress and remove educational roadblocks through effective curriculum design and partnership with instructional design and professional development teams. Motivated by and derives satisfaction from high-ownership work environments and has a passion for technology and education. Highly collaborative, conscientious, reliable, self-motivated, solution-oriented, and growth-mindset savvy. Strong digital and research skills. Great networking and interpersonal abilities. Compensation & Benefits:

Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range. We anticipate the salary range to be $44,453.25- $60,000.00. An individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors which include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
