Job summary

Theuniversityunion is seeking a diligent Packaging Associate to join our Cannabis Packaging team in Mesquite, NV. You will weigh, package, seal, and label cannabis products to meet strict quality standards while maintaining safety and hygiene.

You will keep accurate daily logs, assist with inventory control, and support process improvements. A high school diploma and the ability to pass background checks are preferred; some manufacturing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support packaging department operations with safe, efficient execution.
  • Maintain daily/monthly logs and reports for compliance.
  • Weigh, package, seal, and label cannabis to standard.
  • Communicate obstacles and provide feedback to supervisors.
  • Assist in training staff on proper packaging techniques and SOPs.

Description
Overview:

Following policies set forth by the Company, participate in the overall operation of the Packaging Department including quality control of product, weighing finished product prior to packaging, labeling, packing and boxing of product for sale.

Essential Functions:
  • Support the operations of the Cultivation Packaging Department by safe and efficient execution of operational strategies and processes.
  • Fulfill obligations to the satisfaction of supervisory staff’s short and long-term performance goals.
  • Thorough communication of any obstacles which limit performance.
  • Relay to superiors any conditions observed that may affect the success of the department.
  • Manage and maintain inventory and quality standards of products processed within the department
  • Maintain strict and accurate daily/monthly logs & reports for tracking purposes in order to remain compliant with state law and satisfy the Company’s reporting needs.
  • Communicate daily output including individual packages produced, package weights, and product batch packaged totals.
  • Make recommendations regarding department processes and protocols
  • Encourage and maintain a positive work environment for all employees
  • Assist in the training of staff on proper packaging techniques and processes
  • Assist in the completion of everyday department responsibilities
  • Completion of daily directives and goals
  • The efficient and sanitary packaging of cannabis into predetermined weights and unit volumes
  • Ensure any resulting waste from packaging processes is properly tracked and disposed of by managers
  • Weigh, package, seal, and label all cannabis to satisfy department standards of appearance and overall quality
  • Must be able to adapt to varying strains, styles, and types of marijuana being packaged
  • Adjust techniques to maintain steady pace without sacrificing the quality of output
  • Manage time efficiently in order to satisfy management goals

  • Exhibit ability to take constructive criticism from management to maintain quality standards and production goals
  • Ensure personal hygiene and uniform requirements are adhered to
  • Ensure all daily quality control input is communicated and entered accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Demonstrate a clear comprehension of quality control guidelines, checkpoints, categories, and responsibilities.
  • Communicate the need for acquiring proper tools required to perform all department tasks
  • Assist in the sanitization, organization, and proper storage of all tools
  • Assist in the organization and sanitary storage of all input materials
  • Assist in ensuring facility is equipped with all vital machinery and technology to efficiently complete all department directives
  • Ensure that all machinery is proper working order and is promptly serviced in the event of a malfunction
  • Ensure that all machinery is properly sanitized and stored upon completion of daily tasks.
  • Assist in the execution of proper Cannabis Packaging Methods set forth by the company
  • Communicate and assist in the tracking of all required units and weights throughout completion of daily directives
  • Aide in maintenance and tracking of all product inventory being weighed and packaged within the department
  • Sanitization of packaging rooms and surrounding Areas
  • Assist in the execution, completion, and maintenance of all cleaning logs
  • Completion and review of all matters related to compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Fulfill assigned responsibilities in line with procedures set forth by all department Standard Operating Procedures and subsequent training.

  • Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing, database management, spreadsheet applications and electronic mail.
Requirements
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • Must pass any and all required background checks
  • Must be and remain compliant with any and all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
Minimum Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered, including internal experience.
Working Conditions:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, walking, hearing, seeing, standing, sitting, bending, twisting, climbing, and repetitive motions.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 40 pounds (100 pounds with assistance). Must be able to safely navigate the stairwell and mezzanine level of Greenvault packaging machine.
  • Must be able to tolerate dusty, strong smelling marijuana odors, any noise created by packaging machinery, and be able to tolerate exposure to the product.
