Job summary

Denton Village by PureHealth is seeking a full-time culinary team member to maintain and set up food production and quality control for all items prepared. The role operates in a post-acute setting with regular walking and patient interaction, and requires ServSafe certification and 2+ years in a culinary role.

Responsibilities include following recipes with minimal supervision, knife skills, labeling and rotating items, inventory basics, and daily temps/logs.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers at all levels of the organization
  • Basic computer and Microsoft Application skills. Must have an ability to learn new systems
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population
  • Must have positive communication skills and demonstrated adequate maturity and patience
  • Proficient in the English language. Good communication (verbal and written), customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Must have good organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Must be able to successfully prioritize workload, demonstrate initiative, and analyze situations to make sound decisions
  • Must show initiative and take action on observed needs
  • Self-directing with the ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Knowledgeable of kitchen equipment, good knife skills, and possess a full tool kit
  • Knowledgeable of weights and measures, as well as basic math applications
  • Must be able to assist, train and direct culinary interns and prep cooks in daily tasks

Shift: Sun & Wed-Sat; 10:30a-6:30p; Friday 6a-2p

Position Summary

Work Environment

This job operates in a post-acute setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. Team member is expected to adhere to facility’s no-smoking policy.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 60 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a position in a post-acute setting that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Weekend and holiday shifts will be required

Required Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a culinary role or a certificate/degree from a Culinary Institution
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in a cook/chef role
  • ServSafe Food Handlers Certificate
Preferred Education/Experience
  • College/University Degree in a related field or a certificate/degree from a Culinary Institution
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a culinary cook/chef role
