Job summary

Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center is seeking staff for dietary services to serve residents with quality meals and service excellence. Positions include part-time (minimum 12 hours) and full-time roles eligible for a $500 sign-on bonus. Responsibilities cover food service, safety, sanitation, and adherence to therapeutic diets.

Candidates should meet basic reading, writing, and math skills and have a customer-service orientation. Experience in customer service is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 16 years old.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to speak in sentences.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers.
  • Ability to count.
  • Experience in customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide dietary services to the needs of both internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrates leadership and personal accountability for performance to ensure quality food service is given to each and every customer.
  • Maintains the dietary department in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Serves meals as needed to comply with therapeutic diets ensuring they are presentable in appearance and palatable.
  • Making sure to serve what the resident choose in the correct portion size.
  • Ensure that all ordered items are available and prepared.
  • Adheres to the unit standards of dress, and attend all scheduled meetings as well as mandatory competency training.
  • Displays service excellence as evidenced by practicing the mission and values of the organization to promote resident satisfaction.
  • Complies with organizational policies, procedures and practices to ensure quality job performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintains communications with management regarding all situations.
  • Keeping area clean so we are meeting our sanitary requirements.
  • Complete net learning in the assigned time frame and keeping email active.
  • Be aware of safety hazards and report them promptly.
  • Keep area where working clean and sanitary. Monitor dining areas prior to and after meals to ensure that tables, chairs and utensils are clean. Condiments receptacle should be restocked every meal. Monitor beverage supplies, prepare, and serve beverages for each meal according to schedule

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

This position is the designated point of contact with the residents. This position offers service excellence and quality meals.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in customer service preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • this position requires a full range of body motions with constant walking, lifting, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and standing.
  • The associate will be required to sit for up to one hour a day, stand for four to six hours a day and walk for one hour a day.
  • The individual must be able to lift twenty to fifty pounds and reach work above the shoulders.
  • The individual must have good eye-hand coordination and fine finger dexterity for simple grasping tasks.
  • The individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks.
  • The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range.*BVHS
