Job summary

BJU, Inc. in Greenville, SC seeks an entry-level Culinary Lab assistant to assist faculty and lab supervisors with daily maintenance, cleaning, and sanitation of the Culinary Arts Lab. Responsibilities include food preparation and production, with opportunities to help at dining events.

Evening shifts are available Monday–Friday from 5:30 pm to 10 pm, with on-the-job training provided. The position requires standing for long periods and black slip-resistant shoes.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills for measurements and portions.
• Ability to stand and move for long periods during shifts.
• On-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily maintenance, cleaning, and sanitation of the Culinary Arts Lab.
• Scale, prepare, and occasionally cook food items as directed.
• Manage food in dry storage and refrigerators; support events when needed.

Description

SUMMARY: Assist Culinary Arts Faculty and Lab Supervisors by daily maintenance, cleaning, and sanitation of the Culinary Arts Lab. Additional responsibilities include food preparation and production. Opportunities for helping with dining events may be available. Black closed-toe, slip- resistant shoes required.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Completing daily checklists issued by Chef Instructor
• Scaling, preparing and occasional cooking of food items
• Managing food in dry storage and refrigerators
• Comprehensive floor and equipment cleaning and sanitizing.
• Available shifts M-F 5:30 pm to 10 pm.
• Additional shift opportunities for events (not required).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Basic math and computer skills.
• Ability to stand/work physically for long periods of time (events).
• Average shifts are 3 to 5 hours long
• On-the-job training provided.
• Interview with Chef Instructor required.
