Job summary

Mountain Valley of Cascadia in Kellogg, Idaho, is seeking a dependable culinary aide to join our dietary team. You’ll assist with preparing, portioning, serving, and cleaning up meals while following food safety standards.

You’ll work closely with a caring team to create nutritious, appealing meals for residents, support menu planning, and help keep the kitchen clean and organized. Prior food service is a plus; we provide training.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Food service experience preferred; six months of long-term care experience preferred.
  • Food Handler’s Permit (can obtain post employment).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparing and portioning food, beverages, salads, desserts, and other menu items.
  • Prepare meals according to planned menus, therapeutic diets, and resident preferences.
  • Follow standardized recipes and proper food handling and food safety practices.
  • Ensure meals are attractive, appetizing, and served at the proper temperature.
  • Deliver and serve meals and snacks according to established schedules.
  • Accurately serve meals according to each resident’s diet order and food preferences.
  • Label, date, store, and rotate food appropriately.
  • Monitor and record food, refrigerator, freezer, dishwashing, and sanitizer temperatures.
  • Wash dishes and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas.
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and safe throughout meal preparation and service.
  • Follow infection control and safety procedures.
  • Assist with receiving and storing food and kitchen supplies.
  • Monitor inventory and report low stock or supply needs.
  • Use food, supplies, and equipment efficiently to help reduce waste.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and according to manufacturer and supervisory instructions.
  • Report equipment or safety concerns promptly.
  • Make recommendations that could improve recipes, menus, production, or meal service.
  • Work cooperatively with team members across the facility.
  • Interact with residents, families, and visitors in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.

We’re looking for a culinary aide who is dependable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in serving great food. You’ll work alongside our culinary team to prepare, portion, serve, and clean up meals while following food safety and sanitation standards.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate effectively in English
  • Employees must meet all applicable state background check requirements before working in the facility
  • Due to federal child labor restrictions regarding certain power-driven kitchen equipment, employees must be 18 years of age or older for this position
