Job summary

Rehab Without Walls Neuro Rehabilitation in San Antonio seeks a PRN Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) to support adults with brain and spinal cord injuries in community settings. You’ll evaluate needs, set goals with the rehab team, and deliver meaningful recreation activities to promote independence.

Requirements: Bachelor's in Therapeutic Recreation, CTRT certification, state licensure if required, and at least two years’ experience in therapeutic recreation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, or the equivalent.
• CTRT certification through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
• Maintains professional license and/or certification if required by the state.
• Minimum of two years therapeutic therapy experience and therapeutic recreation program design.
• Experience working with patients with neurologic or orthopedic injuries or conditions.
• Demonstrates effective and professional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Able to work independently and part of a team.
• Demonstrates strong organization skills and attention to detail.
• Has reliable transportation and can travel to/from multiple assignments/locations on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive evaluations and sets measurable objectives with the rehabilitation team.
• Adjusts treatment to maximize independence and function.
• Plans, organizes, and coordinates recreation activities and leisure education.
• Interviews patients to assess capabilities/interests/barriers and monitors progress.
• Designs community reintegration activities for physical and cognitive needs.
• Regularly reassesses treatment effectiveness and progress toward goals.
• Communicates patient needs and progress to the treatment team and family.
• Documents evaluation, treatment, and billing in required formats.
• Adheres to HIPAA, policies, and regulations.
• May work with rehab specialists to fulfill the plan.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
