Harper Woods School District seeks a CTE Construction Trades Paraprofessional to assist high school students in carpentry, building techniques, and safety in classroom and shop settings under the supervision of a certified teacher.

Responsibilities include reinforcing lessons, supervising shop activities, guiding student projects, maintaining tools and materials, and documenting participation and safety concerns.

Qualifications

• Sixty credit hours or a bachelor's degree.
• Interest in construction trades preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reinforce lessons in carpentry, blueprint reading, tool operation, and construction safety and regulations while using equipment.
• Monitor students during hands‑on building activities to enforce strict safety protocols and proper equipment use.
• Help individual students or small groups understand technical tasks, project steps, and behavioral expectations. Assist students with reading and comprehension.
• Assist with organizing materials, maintaining tools and equipment, and preparing work areas for daily projects.
• Track student participation, maintain a clean and orderly learning environment, and communicate safety or attendance concerns to the lead teacher.
