Job summary

Smith Academy in Fort Wayne, Indiana seeks a dedicated high school teacher for CTE classes. The role focuses on delivering standards-aligned instruction, supporting students’ growth, and collaborating with the instructional support team.

You will reinforce professionalism, classroom management, and student engagement, while participating in extracurricular activities as needed. State certification or in progress is required, with a bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and state teacher certification or in process.
• Ability to maintain professional standards and strong classroom management.
• Experience delivering instruction aligned to state curriculum standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs and goals of students; establish clear objectives for all lessons and units; ensure that lessons are aligned with state curriculum standards.
• Develop lesson plans; work cooperatively with the academy's instructional support team to learn from feedback and improve the quality of instruction.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning; develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures; enforce the academy's student discipline code.
• Collaborate with special education staff to implement accommodations and modifications as indicated in student IEPs.
• Maintain professional competence.
• May participate in extracurricular activities such as coaching, tutoring, enrichment activities, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
