eastrivermedicalimaging in NYC/Westchester seeks a CT Scan Technologist to operate the CT scanner, position patients, administer contrast, and ensure image quality for diagnostic purposes. Responsibilities include data entry of scan parameters, patient monitoring, QA activities, and adherence to safety protocols.

ARRT-CT certification, NY RT license with injection, BLS, and an Associate's degree are required.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent; 6 months to 1 year related experience.
  • CT specialty training certification (ARRT-CT) and NYS RT license with injection.
  • Basic MS Office knowledge.
  • BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CT scanner and position patient per radiologist protocols.
  • Administer contrast media intravenously; assist in injections.
  • Enter scan data into computer and set parameters (slice thickness, scan time).
  • Start CT scanner to image designated anatomical area.
  • Monitor patient safety and comfort via intercom and control room.
  • Evaluate radiographs/images for quality; perform QA tasks.

CT Scan Technologist

Salary Range:$49-57/hr

Summary:

Operates computed tomography (CT) scanner to produce cross-sectional radiographs of patient's body for diagnostic purposes by performing the following duties.

Duties

  • Positions and immobilizes patient on examining table, using supportive devices to obtain precise patient position and following protocols specified by Radiologist.
  • Administers contrast media intravenously; assists Physician/Nurse in intravenous administration.
  • Enters data such as type of scan requested, slice thickness, scan time, and other technical data into computer.
  • Starts CT scanner to scan designated anatomical area of patient.
  • Talks to patient over intercom system and observes patient through window of control room to monitor patient safety and comfort.
  • Views images of organs or tissue on video display screen to ensure quality of pictures.
  • Daily/Weekly Quality Assurance
  • Evaluates radiographs, video tape, and computer generated information for technical quality.

Education/Experience:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Office word processing software.

Certificates and Licenses:
CT specialty training certification (ARRT-CT), NYS RT License with Injection, active BLS training.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
