Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a CT Technologist for the Petersburg, VA area. The role involves performing diagnostic CT scans, ensuring image quality, and providing direct patient care with compassion and efficiency.

Responsibilities include positioning patients, administering contrast as required, and supporting radiologists with procedures while maintaining CT systems and patient safety. This is a PRN, on-site role with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from an ARRT-accredited program (preferred).
• ARRT certification and registration in Diagnostic Radiology (required).
• BLS Basic Life Support (required at hire for some locations).
• Advanced CT modality registration (preferred, or within two years).
• State licensure preferred where required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure image quality and verify patient data.
• Perform CT procedures and appropriate CT injections.
• Position patients and ensure safety during imaging.
• Assist radiologist with procedures using sterile technique.
• Maintain CT IT systems knowledge (Radiant/PACS).
• Participate in on-call rotation as needed.

CT Technologist - Southside Medical Center - PRN

Job Summary:

The CT Technologist applies the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of CT scanning equipment in a way that provides direct patient care in a compassionate and timely manner. The CT Technologist assists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by producing diagnostic CT scans.

Essential Functions:

• Assures the quality of all images and confirms that all pertinent patient/procedural data is correct.
• Performs computed tomography procedures.
• Performs timeout as required per policy.
• Properly positions patients on CT scanning cradles and properly immobilizes patients with appropriate devices to obtain desired position.
• Makes radiation exposures by energizing scanner per physician request and patient history.
• Performs intravenous injections and demonstrates a knowledge of use and care of existing IVs, administers oral, rectal, and IV radiographic contracts agents specific to procedures.
• Assists the radiologist with biopsies, drainage procedures, etc. utilizing sterile techniques, exhibiting safe and effective use of all contrast and radiation materials.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all CT IT systems, including Radiant and PACS.
• Participates in on call rotation as required.

Education:

• Associate’s from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)

Required Licensing & Certifications:

• BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
• Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology (required)
• Advanced modality registration in CT, ARRT (preferred, or must obtain within two years)
• State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)

Experience:

• 1 year of experience as CT or Rad Tech (preferred)
