Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist responsible for administering ionizing radiation for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. You will perform CT and molecular imaging procedures, acquiring data for diagnosis and assisting licensed practitioners in interventional procedures.

The ideal candidate will be certified by ARRT or NMTCB, have experience in medical imaging, and comply with organization policies as well as patient safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Certification by ARRT or NMTCB required upon hire.
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience preferred.
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R or NMTCB prior to first day.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure correct order is obtained and patient is properly identified.
  • Utilize appropriate imaging protocol and optimize technical factors.
  • Prepare and/or administer medications as prescribed.
  • Evaluate images for proper positioning and quality.
  • Educate and monitor students and health care providers.
  • Assist licensed practitioner with interventional procedures.
  • Perform computed tomography procedures as prescribed.

Job Summary

Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes. They perform computed tomography and molecular imaging procedures, acquire and analyze data needed for diagnosis, interpretation, and the performance of interventional and therapeutic procedures at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilize appropriate imaging protocol and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying ALARA principles.
  • Prepare and/or administer medications through new or existing vascular access sites as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluate images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality, verify archival storage and/or transfer of data, and perform post-processing of data if applicable.
  • Educate and monitor students and other health care providers.
  • Assist a licensed practitioner with interventional computed tomography procedures.
  • Perform computed tomography procedures as prescribed.
  • Work in a clinical environment and comply with all organization policies and procedures.
Certification & Licensure
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) or by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) required upon hire.
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry or NMTCB prior to first day of employment.
  • Applicants hired after March10,2024 must complete steps required for advancing to level2, including advanced certification, within 24months of hire.
Education & Experience
  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program‑Radiologic Technology (Required).
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience (Preferred).
Licenses & Certifications
  • Basic Life Support Certification – Default Issuing Body.
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) – Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • Radiography (R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
