Rhode Island Medical Imaging is offering a $5,000 sign‑on bonus.

Summary

CT Technologist responsible for performing scans, ensuring quality control, providing high‑diagnostic‑quality films based on each case, and interacting professionally with patients, physicians, and staff while maintaining efficient patient flow. Additional tasks include assisting patients, maintaining supplies and cleanliness, and performing routine clerical duties.

Schedule

• Monday – Wednesday 4:00 PM‑8:00 PM and Saturday 7:30 AM‑4:00 PM
• Part‑time

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform technologist duties at specified times and places, as assigned.
• Perform required quality control procedures and ensure proper operation of equipment at all times.
• Possess knowledge about radiation protection, safety, and current scanning protocols.
• Coordinate with reception to maintain efficient patient flow.
• Receive and greet patients, obtain necessary medical history, and provide procedure instructions.
• Use lead shields to protect against radiation exposure in accordance with safety standards.
• Assist radiologist when required.
• Operate equipment according to recognized procedures and established techniques; review images for quality and completeness.
• Immediately report any equipment operation concerns.
• Provide high‑quality studies and coordinate/communicate with radiologists and referring physicians.
• Assess factors that may contraindicate the procedure, including medications, patient history, lab values, preparation, and potential artifacts.
• Assess patient risk factors for contrast media reactions, including allergic reactions and renal insufficiency.
• Perform venipuncture, verify IV patency, and maintain IV access.
• Utilize accessory equipment such as the power injector, colon insufflator, and AED.
• Perform QA/QC as required for CT and related equipment in accordance with RIMI and ACR guidelines.
• Handle patients in a caring, courteous, and professional manner.
• Ensure all records are completed with correct patient identification, billing information, and authorization.
• Order necessary supplies to ensure continuous operation of the unit.
• During lulls, coordinate with reception and other personnel for additional assistance (registration, scheduling, answering phones, posting charges, retrieving files).
• Maintain organized records of equipment repairs and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Maintain overall cleanliness of office and clinical areas.
• Assist other technologists and cross‑train in other modalities as needed.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Basic Knowledge/Skills

• Demonstrated knowledge and skills to perform exams per governing bodies and RIMI protocol.
• Physical dexterity, strength, and ability to position patients and operate CT equipment.
• Ability to determine appropriate studies based on case specifics.
• High accuracy in positioning and exposure technique.
• Ability to identify and manage emergency situations.
• Demonstrated patient care skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Education and Certifications

• High school diploma plus 2 years of training at an approved radiologic technology program.
• ARRT registration and CT certification.
• Licensed technologist in the State of Rhode Island.
• National and State IV certification required.
• Additional training in cross‑sectional anatomy, injection procedures, and contrast media.
• Maintain additional accreditations and certifications as required by state, federal, and RIMI guidelines.
• Submit yearly CME reports to management.

Physical Demands

• Walk and stand intermittently throughout the day.
• Lift or position patients and supplies up to 50 pounds.
• Transport patients from scanner tables and in wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Crouch, reach, and lift to manipulate ancillary equipment.
• Work in magnetic field zones 3 and 4 without adverse physical conditions.
• Handle exposure to high magnetic fields and associated noise.
