Job summary

Springfield Clinic is seeking a CT Technologist II to perform CT scans, assess anatomy, and assist radiologists in selecting applications and technical factors. The role requires ARRT registration, CPR within 30 days, and five years CT experience preferred.

The candidate will maintain quality CT imaging, manage patient history, and support workflows including weekend/holiday coverage. Flexibility, attention to safety, and professional conduct are essential.

• Must work in a specialty location at least 80% of the time and participate in weekend/holiday rotation.

Responsibilities

• Produce quality CT scans and anticipate additional imaging when beneficial.
• Identify pathology and provide radiologist with accurate measurements and density readings.
• Prepare CT films for radiologist to read and obtain outside prior exams.
• Inform protocols and changes proposed by radiologists to CT staff.
• Maintain contrast reaction boxes and be current on CT procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.

Job description

The CT Technologist II is responsible for performing CT scans by the application of ionizing radiation to produce quality images as required under a variety of conditions along with assisting physicians as required in the selection of practical applications and technical factors.

Job Relationships

Reports to the Advanced Imaging Operations Manager

Principal Responsibilities

• Produce quality CT scans and be able to anticipate when additional imaging would be beneficial.
• Good knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
• Know the capabilities of the computer/scanner.
• Able to identify pathology and provide radiologist with accurate measurements and density readings.
• Prepare CT films for radiologist to read.
• Responsible for obtaining outside previous or comparison exams.
• Familiar with pressure injector and doses.
• Familiar with contrast material and possible reactions.
• Obtain complete patient history.
• Keep log of all patients.
• Inform all technologists working in CT of all protocols and any changes proposed by the radiologists.
• Stay current on CT procedures to provide quality service.
• Must be able to adapt to flexible working hours.
• Maintain contrast reaction boxes throughout the Radiology department.
• Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
• Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
• Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

• Must be a graduate of an approved A.C.R school.
• Five years of experience in CT preferred.
• Must work in a specialty location at least 80% of the time and/or take part in the departmental weekend and holiday rotation.

Licenses/Certificates

• Must maintain current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in both Radiography and CT.
• CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.
• Must maintain active accreditation in Radiography with the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety.

Working Environment

• Will be exposed to fumes from cleaning agents or x-ray film processor chemicals, in limited areas.
• Will be exposed to conditions including exposure to blood and bodily fluids, tissue, contagious diseases and/or potentially hazardous materials.
• Occasional heavy lifting required.
