Tampa General Hospital is seeking a CT Technologist II to independently perform a wide range of standard CT procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort. The role includes preparing and administering contrast material and maintaining high-quality diagnostic results.

The position requires a Technical Program Radiologic Technology, an associate degree in imaging, Florida or Compact State licensure, ARRT CT and BLS certification, and at least one year of CT experience.

Qualifications

• Education: Technical Program Radiologic Technology and an associate degree in an imaging-related field.
• Licensure: General Radiographer, Nuclear Medicine Technologist, or Radiation Therapy Technologist (Florida or Compact State).
• Certification: ARRT (R - Radiography) and ARRT (CT); BLS from AHA or American Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Performs CT procedures following established protocols with patient safety and comfort in mind.
• Selects appropriate protocols and sequences for each examination.
• Verifies pregnancy status for female patients when applicable.
• Assists with procedures using sterile technique and communicates effectively with patients.
• Maintains equipment and records; ensures correct exam is performed per guidelines.

Description

The CT Technologist 2 independently performs a wide range of standard CT procedures while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Responsible for conducting imaging procedures, processing diagnostic images using specialized equipment, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care through direct interaction with patients. The role involves preparing and administering contrast material to patients through various methods such as injection and oral intake. Continuous professional development through medical and technical education is integral to maintaining and enhancing their skills, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and diagnostic results.

Essential Functions

• Performs exam according to established procedure manual while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and protection.
• Selects pre-established technical protocols and sequences for each examination.
• Verifies if female patient is or is not pregnant.
• Assists with specific procedures as indicated, using sterile technique when applicable.
• Performs effective communication with patients regarding procedure, identifies patients using two identifiers and verifies orders.
• Works calmly under stress and calls for assistance when needed.
• Reports mechanical malfunctions or problems following chain of command as soon as possible.
• Demonstrates knowledge of computers for verifying orders and / or records.
• Obtains adequate history and diagnosis for the ordered exam and ensures the correct exam is performed according to established guidelines.

License/Registration - Issued by Florida or Compact State

• General Radiographer, Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Radiation Therapy Technologist

Certification

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (CT - Computerized Tomography)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Work Experience

• One year experience as a CT Technologist
• A working knowledge of the CT equipment is necessary
