The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City is seeking a CT Technologist for the Evening shift (Part-time).

You will produce cross-sectional CT images, coordinate examinations across locations, and uphold safety and quality standards in radiology.

Required education in Radiologic Technology and ARRT licensure within prescribed timeframes; BLS; join a team focused on high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Certificate in Radiologic Technology is required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program is required.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's in Radiologic Technology or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise between departments and support radiology leadership on special projects.
  • Support education strategies and teaching opportunities for staff and students.
  • Operate CT scanners and related devices safely across locations.
  • Maintain patient flow and prepare examinations to minimize patient stay.
  • Respond to contrast reactions and provide patient education as needed.
  • Complete mandatory educational assignments and maintain high imaging standards.

Position Title: CT Technologist - Evening Bell Hospital

Position Summary / Career Interest: Shift: Part-time - Evening- Thurs. - Fri. - 12:30pm - 1am

The CT Technologist is responsible for producing images that produce cross sectional imaging for the purpose of diagnosing disease processes. Procedures can be performed at various health system locations. CT Technologists are expected to participate in on-going training and education.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Acts as a liaison for communication between other departments and assists when called upon for special projects that have been approved by the Radiology Department leadership team.
  • Assists with developing continuing education strategies with the CT Department which will assist the long term enrichment of the staff.
  • Participates in providing teaching and learning opportunities to fellow technologists and students.
  • Ensuring that all staff are operating equipment optimally and safely by adhering to policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Is responsible for the operation of CT scanners and auxiliary devices within the scope of designated locations.
  • Operates all equipment safely, ensuring that radiation exposure is set to provide the lowest dose for reasonable image quality as overseen by staff radiologists.
  • Maintains an organized flow of the patients scheduled, coordinates examinations in the most efficient order and performs exams in a sequence which minimizes the patient's stay in the hospital.
  • Must have an excellent working knowledge of contrast reactions and responses and be able to respond immediately to patient needs.
  • Responsible for completion of mandatory educational assignments as provided by supervisor/senior supervisor.
  • Responsible for performing routine CT procedures at a very high standard with an increasing knowledge and ability to perform specialty studies with experience.
  • Must be able to set equipment parameters, provide patient assessment and education, provide accurate patient preparation and provide venous access for the safe administration of contrast material.

  • Other duties may be assigned as required. Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate Or GED.
  • Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Radiologic Technology or in a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience performing basic CT procedures.
  • 1 or more years of large facility experience.
Required Licensure and Certification
  • Computed Tomography (CT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 180 Days.
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) - State Board of Healing Arts within 90 Days.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
Preferred Licensure and Certification
  • Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Radiography - ARRT required to apply for Computed Tomography (CT) - ARRT.
Knowledge Requirements
  • Advanced computer skills, related to RIS, PACS, EMR.
