Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a CT Technologist to join the Kenosha team. The role performs advanced diagnostic CT procedures, including CT-guided, angiography, and 3D reformatting, with a focus on patient history and exam accuracy.

You will position patients, adjust scanning parameters, and ensure radiation safety while assisting radiologists with contrast administration and image quality. Training and growth are available within a supportive hospital system.

Qualifications

• Advanced training beyond high school in Radiologic Technology.
• 2 years CT technologist experience in a clinical setting.
• Wisconsin Radiographer license and ARRT registrations.
• ARRT CT registration and BLS via AHA within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Operate CT equipment for diagnostic procedures including CT-guided, angiography, PET/CT and 3D reformatting.
• Obtain patient history and verify orders for exam accuracy.
• Position patients and set scanning factors ensuring image quality and safety.
• Prepare and administer contrast under Radiologist direction; assist scanning.
• Post-process images, label records, and document in RIS and billing codes.
• Identify equipment issues and perform QA tests; review new products.
• Serve as a mentor and technical resource for staff and students.
• Collaborate with departments to educate on imaging processes and procedures.
• Perform patient handling with safe lifting and age-appropriate care.

Rotation is Thursday through Wednesday (Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs hours 830p-0630a; Fri/Sat/Sun hours 7p-7a)

Pay Range

$33.05 - $53.25

Major Responsibilities:

• Proficiently operates CT equipment to perform basic to advanced diagnostic procedures. Must perform and be proficient with all of the following procedures if performed at assigned facility which include scrub CT guided invasive procedures, angiography, cardiac, cyber-knife, venography, cerebral, PET/CT, and 3D reformatting including cardiac, vascular and neurological.
• Obtains medical history from patients and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
• Positions patient and selects proper scanning factors, adjusts factors to attain the appropriate images, and provides radiation protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies.
• Prepares and administers contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist, and assists in the proper scanning techniques. Provides measurements and additional slices for accurate interpretation with direction from the Radiologist.
• Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
• Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
• Identifies equipment performance issues and performs equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures. Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff and evaluates new products and equipment.
• Serves as a technical resource, role model and/or preceptor for students and staff. Acts as a resource to staff at own facility and throughout the system.
• Facilitates clinical problem solving and collaborates with other departments to provide education on managing patients after procedures and any other imaging department processes and procedures.
• Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

• Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin, and
• Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and
• Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providerscertification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.

Education Required:

• Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.

Experience Required:

• Typically requires 2 years of experience in a CT Technologist role.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Advanced knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and radiation safety.
• Proficient in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members.
• Ability to work independently.
• Intermediate computer skills.

• Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital based certifications (e.g.DNV, CARF or others).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday.
• Must be able to:
• - lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
• - lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
• - carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
• Must be able to:
• - push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
• - perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
• Must have clear speech, vision and hearing.
• May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
