Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a CT Technologist to perform CAT/CT scans and assist with related diagnostic procedures. The role requires knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and CT techniques, with a focus on patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities include operating CT scanners, obtaining histories, ensuring image quality, transporting patients, and maintaining room readiness and supplies. Maryland ARRT or NMTCB licensure and CT program completion are required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree preferred and CT training completed.
• Completion of a certified CT program required.
• Maryland ARRT Radiology Technologist license or NMTCB license required.

• Obtains patient history, explains procedures, and addresses questions.

• Transports patients and maintains exam rooms and supplies.

About the Job

Produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of designated anatomical areas.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
• Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
• Performs CAT Scan Radiology studies. Obtains patient history explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns.
• Performs CT techniques and examinations abdominal scans retroperitoneal scans obstetric and gynecology scans radiation therapy localization for treatment planning and minor surgical procedures.
• Performs IV Access and contrast injections per departmental policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
• Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality completeness and type of test ordered. Ensures quality images.
• Selects and operates equipment as directed.
• Transports patients to CAT Scan room; prepares and maintains room for daily activities. Where applicable refer to the competency validation documents for population(s) served.

Minimal Qualifications

Education

• Associate's degree preferred and
• training in computer-assisted tomography. required

Experience

• Less than 1 year 6 months CT experience required or
• Completion of a certified CT program required

Licenses and Certifications

• ARRT Radiology Technologist license in the State of Maryland. required or
• NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Technologist Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in the State of Maryland with required paperwork to perform diagnostic CTs on file with the state. required and
• CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required and
• Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $35.68 - USD $64.71 /Hr.
