Job Summary
The CT Technologist I operates CT equipment to produce diagnostic images, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and protocol adherence. Responsibilities include patient preparation, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to deliver accurate results. Attention to detail, communication skills, and patient-centered care are essential.
Essential Functions
- Operate CT equipment to produce high-quality images following protocols.
- Prepare and position patients, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Verify patient identity, physician orders, and screen for contraindications.
- Explain procedures and address patient questions to reduce anxiety.
- Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare team for timely, accurate care.
- Review images for accuracy, present to radiologist, and communicate findings.
- Maintain and perform quality control on CT equipment.
- Document clinical history and correlate with imaging studies.
- Follow safety protocols and infection control guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with policies.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of clinical experience from an accredited radiologic sciences program (required).
- 2-4 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in operating CT equipment.
- Ability to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Skill in patient positioning and safety transfers.
- Maintain and ensure proper functioning of CT equipment.
- Effective collaboration with healthcare team.
- Knowledge of aseptic, surgical, and radiologic techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Licenses and Certifications
- State-licensed Radiologic Technologist (required).
- ARDMS or ARRT Radiographer (preferred).
- CT Certification or eligibility within six months of hire (required).
- BCLS certification (required within 90 days of hire).
