Job summary

Indiana University Health's Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN seeks a Radiology CT Technologist. You will operate the CT scanner, prepare and position patients, administer contrast, and ensure safety. Collaborative with radiologists, document in EMR, and support minimally invasive procedures.

Requires ARRT/NMTCB certification eligibility, ISDH license, BLS, and 0–3 years of experience. A new hire bonus is available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

  • 0–3 years of relevant radiology experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Ability to maneuver equipment and adjust patient positions as needed.
  • Active ARRT or NMTCB certification (RT(R)/RT(NM)) or CNMT; eligibility required for CT.
  • IST license validity as Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technologist (ISDH).
  • Willingness to pursue additional modality certification if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Operates CT scanner and prepares/positions patients.
  • Screens patients for safe scanning and administration of contrast.
  • Obtains IV access and administers contrast as required.
  • Adjusts scan parameters to address clinical concerns and ensure diagnostic images.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and referring physicians.
  • Follows radiation safety protocols and performs routine QC on equipment.
  • Keeps up with continuing education and participates in medical alerts.
  • Documents necessary information in EMR.
  • Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed.

Education

ARRT certification (RT(R) or RT(NM))
NMTCB CNMT
ISDH Radiologic/Nuclear Medicine Technologist license
Advanced CT certification within 12 months of hire

Job description

Overview

This position is full time, days. The shift is Tuesday - Friday, at Ball Memorial Hospital.

New Hire Bonus available for those who qualify!

Operates CT scanner, prepares and positions patients. Screens patients for safe scanning and safe administration of contrast. Obtains IV access, and administers contrast as required and is familiar with recognizing and responding to adverse contrast events. Possesses knowledge of scan protocols and selection of appropriate protocol to address clinical concerns. Adjusts scan parameters to ensure diagnostic images. Collaborates with radiologists and referring physicians. Follows radiation safety protocols. Performs routine QC on equipment. Stays current with continuing education. Assists in medical alert situations. Communicates effectively with patients, families and members of the care team. Documents necessary information in EMR. Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed.

Requirements
  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
  • Requires active status through one of the following: American Registry of Radiology Technology (ARRT): Registered Technologist - Radiography , RT(R) or Nuclear Medicine, RT(NM); or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB): Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT).
  • Requires advanced certification in Computed Tomography (CT) through ARRT or NMTCB within 12 months of hire.
  • Requires current Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) license as Radiologic Technologist or Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
