Job summary

The CT Technologist at St. Charles Health System performs radiology and CT exams under radiologist supervision and CT/Radiology Coordinator guidance. The role includes patient prep, image reconstruction, and adherence to department policies.

Required to hold an OBMI license in Oregon and ARRT credentials (RT and CT). Preferred: additional ARRT MRI/BD/MAM/CV/VI specialties and CT experience. On-call and weekend coverage may be required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program with state license.
  • ARRT CT certification required; OBMI license in Oregon preferred.
  • Two years of radiography experience and CT exposure desired.

Job description

Overview

The CT Technologist serves the needs of the patients of St. Charles Health System in the performance of radiological exams, computed tomography and image reconstruction, under direct supervision of the radiologist and the CT/ Radiology Coordinator, and within CT department policies. This position does not directly manage other caregivers.

Responsibilities
  • Performs Radiology and Computed Tomography (CT) diagnostic and interventional examinations in accordance with department policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Follows Health and Safety Policies and Procedures of Quality Care.
  • Assists in record maintenance and statistics as requested.
  • Participates in student training program as requested.
  • Provides coverage for CT within St. Charles Health System including on-call coverage, holiday and weekend relief as needed.
  • Demonstrates competence with CT STAT RAD System.
  • Prepares for sterile and non-sterile procedures and maintains a sterile field; conducts all necessary preparations of the patient procedure room and documents when appropriate.

  • Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
  • Maintains high standards of professionalism and confidentiality; complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; reports known or suspected violations and cooperates with investigations.
  • Utilizes AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank) to prepare patients for procedures and communicate about the radiology experience.
  • Delivers customer service and patient care that is timely, efficient, and accurate.
  • May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.
Education
  • Required: High school diploma or GED. Must be a graduate of a certified radiologic technology training program.
  • Preferred: Basic and advanced seminars in computed tomography.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
  • Required: Current Oregon Board of Medical Imaging license (OBMI). American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) credential in Radiologic Technology (RT) and Computed Tomography (CT).
  • Preferred: ARR T credential in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Bone Densitometry (BD), Mammography (MAM), Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV), or Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI).
Experience
  • Required: Cross-sectional imaging experience.
  • Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in diagnostic radiography. One (1) year experience as a CT Technologist.
