Job summary

GBMC HealthCare seeks a Radiologic Technologist (CT) to perform computed tomography procedures, prepare examinations, and position patients for imaging within the CT department. Job description

Under general supervision, performs all CT procedures. Operates computed tomography and radiography equipment to obtain quality diagnostic images. Prepares examination area, positions patient for procedures and adjusts imaging equipment to correct setting for examinations done within the CT department. Assists physicians in the performance of examinations.Education:Completion of two (2) years post-high school training in an approved school of diagnostic imagingLicensures/Certifications:Must have passed a qualifying examination given by an appropriate credentialing agencyNational registry through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and state licensure through the Maryland Board of Physician Quality AssuranceHealthcare Provider (CPR Certification)Experience:Two (2) years’ experience as a Radiologic Technologist or one (1) year experience in computed tomographySkills:Knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles and proceduresAnalytical skills necessary to effectively utilize knowledge of computed tomography techniques and methods, and cross-sectional anatomy.Patient & Workplace Safety:Employee has knowledge and understanding of patient and workforce safety as it relates to job duties.Patient Population:Demonstrates competency in the delivery of care and applies the knowledge to meet age-specific needs if applicable.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Prepares patient for examination and sets up and manipulates the use of all computed tomography, data processing, and ancillary equipment required for computed tomography proceduresCalculates and selects proper technique and protocols using ALARA. Uses only the combinations that will safeguard the patient, staff, and equipmentAssists physicians during procedures with medical equipment and instruments, and the administration of contrast materials and medications. Ability to use sterile technique for procedures when applicableTransfers image data to PACS and V-RAD environments for the physician to review and interpret imagesMaintains records and/or technical notations on each case required by regulatory agencies and ensures files and records are properly completed with correct informationMaintains cleanliness and sanitation of work area and ensures that the area is properly stocked and supplied forspecific proceduresDraws blood and introduces IV’s according to established proceduresAssists in scheduling and flow of computed tomography examinations to ensure optimal utilization of equipment and personnelDemonstrates and assists in instruction of computed tomography equipment, operation and theory to radiologic technologystudents and other professional and ancillary personnel.
