Job summary

Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a CT technologist to perform routine and specialized CT procedures under the supervision of radiologists and the Imaging Services Director. Qualified candidates will have graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program, ARRT certification, an Iowa permit, and CT experience.

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT certification.
  • Valid Iowa permit to practice.
  • One year CT experience or cross-trained at Broadlawns Medical Center.
  • Ability to consistently meet the department work schedule.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and effective communication.
  • Familiarity with general computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and special CT procedures within standard imaging procedures.
  • On-call responsibilities including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Assist with general radiology duties as needed.
  • Maintain high image quality with a ≤5% error rate.
  • Complete ASAP exams within one hour as directed.

Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the general direction and supervision of the Radiologist and the Director, Ancillary Operations. The CT Tech performs a variety of radiologic procedures including routine and special CT procedures within the limits of standard procedures of the Imaging Services Department. Position has "on call" responsibilities including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Performs the additional duties of general radiology and procedures as needed.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
  1. 1. Performs duties and responsibilities in accordance with Medical Center policy & procedure.
  2. 2. Demonstrates flexibility to adapt to changes in workload, schedule, department function and procedures
  3. 3. Actively participates in creating a positive and harmonious work environment by demonstrating teamwork and cooperative, responsive behaviors.
  4. 4. Meets/exceeds competency criteria specific to the task/duties of the position.
  5. 5. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence consistent with hospital-wide unit-specific standards.
  6. 6. Completes all annual hospital-wide mandatory training within defined timeframe (i.e. safety, corporate compliance, confidentiality).
  7. 7. Demonstrates competence in specified computer applications.
  8. 8. Completes work with less than 5% error rate for image quality.
  9. 9. Utilizes time wisely. completing all patient exams in a timely manner. assisting others and performing departmental duties as needed. These duties may include restocking, housekeeping, patient safety and compliance improvements and inspection readiness.
  10. 10. Completes ASAP exams within one hour or as directed by radiologist and reports all stat exams within one hour.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. 1. Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  2. 2. Certification by the A.R.R.T.
  3. 3. Valid Iowa permit to practice.
  4. 4. One (1) year CT experience or cross-trained at Broadlawns Medical Center.
  5. 5. Ability to consistently meet the department work schedule as designated.
  6. 6. Consistently demonstrates a team approach to care.
  7. 7. Demonstrates effective communication strategies.
  8. 8. Familiarity with general computer applications.
