Job summary

Glenwood Regional Medical Center is seeking a CT Technologist to operate CT scanners, position patients, and acquire diagnostic images per physician orders.

The role requires ARRT and a Louisiana license, AMA-approved radiologic training, and BLS certification. CT experience is preferred and advanced CT certification is encouraged or required within 18 months of hire. You will work under safety standards and collaborate with the health care team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic CT imaging including biopsy and localization procedures.
• Conduct daily startup and calibration of CT units with radiation safety practices.
• Label images correctly, document in RIS, and submit to PACS for dictation.
• Prepare patients with education, history, and informed consent when indicated.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and other imaging duties as assigned.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

CT Technologists utilize computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients' internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical conditions. A CT scan technologist must accurately interpret a physician's scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment, and position the patient to capture the appropriate images. Staff in this position effectively interact with patients, hospital employees, managers, and other health team members while maintaining established professional standards. The technologist also participates in performance improvement activities and performs other imaging tasks or duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs diagnostic CT imaging to include biopsy and localization procedures utilizing standardized techniques to obtain optimal imaging consistency. Also performs point of care lab testing using ISTAT.

Performs daily startup procedures and calibration checks on CT units. Always utilizes radiation protection. Patient safety and dignity are maintained at all times.

Continuous monitoring of requests for correct orders. Images are properly labeled, documented in the RIS, and submitted to PACS for dictation in a timely manner.

Proper preparation is performed on all patients, including education, history, and informed consent if indicated.

Information is properly documented. All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Two years' experience as a radiology technologist. Previous experience in CT preferred.
• Graduation from an AMA-approved school of radiology technology.
• ARRT, Louisiana License.
• Advanced CT Certification is preferred; if not, then required within 18 months of hire.
• BLS Healthcare Provider Status required within 30 days of hire date.
