Job summary

Prisma Health in Greenville Memorial Hospital is seeking CT technologists to perform computed tomography scans, communicate with physicians and staff, and ensure high-quality imaging. The role involves night and weekend shifts, strict adherence to protocols, patient preparation, and accurate documentation.

Required are an accredited Radiologic Technology program, ARRT registration, CPR, and SC-specific SCRQSA certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• ARRT Registered and CPR certification.
• SCRQSA certification (Required for team members working in South Carolina).
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Explain CT procedures to patients and families and obtain proper history.
• Perform CT scans and acquire images using established protocols.
• Prepare room, supplies, and contrast administration while maintaining sterile technique.
• Communicate with radiologists and nursing staff for appropriate protocols and patient care.
• Operate PACS system, document procedures, and ensure studies are archived for reading.
• Perform post-exam checks, calibrations, and assist with emergencies as needed.

Job Summary

Performs a variety of procedures applying ionizing radiation. Performs CT scans as directed. Communicates with the physician and other work‑related personnel appropriately.

Essential Functions

• Night Shift/Weekends/Fri/Sat/Sun/7:00pm-7:00am.
• All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.
• Identifies patients and procedures. Communicate with nursing or physician concerning patient. Inform nursing of patients that need IV sedation or biopsies. Fills out questionnaires on all patients between the ages of 12-55 yrs. old. Positions patients accurately for all procedures. Patients are transferred and positioned correctly for anatomy to be demonstrated for best visibility. Performs procedures correctly using protocol book for reference. Studies must be done in a timely manner and taken to the radiologist for interpretation as soon as possible after completion of exam. Writes time procedure is finished and filmed on patient board. Films must be archived and taken to radiologist for reading. Obtains appropriate supplies and prepares room for patient. Keeps room cleaned and stocked at all times. Adequate supplies and linens must always be available. Cleans tables and trays after each patient. Uses proper technique when injection IV contrast. Ensures IV is working and checked first with an injection of saline. Chooses correct method of injection (hand or injector). 3D imaging and multiplanar reconstruction. Responds to codes and other emergency situations appropriately.
• Explains CT procedure to patient and/or family member. Obtains completed questionnaire and proper history and clinical from patient, floor or physician's office. Informs patients and families of all delays. Trains co‑workers and students. Assists other technologists when not busy in assigned CT room.
• Acquires requisition and checks for appropriate clinical. Charges procedure, supplies and surgical codes when exam is completed. Indicates no-film badge wearing name and fluoro time. Adds surgical charges when needed. Operates the PAC’s system appropriately and verify studies before sending to archive. Reports equipment problems to supervisor, in‑charge tech and documents confirmation numbers. Appropriate forms must be completed for all procedures. Fill out contrast sheet on all patients receiving IV and rectal contrast. A contrast media form must be filled out on all patients, CT forms must be filled out on all patients. Communicates with radiologist to determine appropriate protocols for each exam. Correct protocols are utilized as prescribed by the radiologist. Procedures must be performed as directed by the radiologist. Correct scans as performed. Demonstrates recognition of anatomy and pathology as related to scan being processed. Perform warm up calibrations.
• Utilizes correct protocols prescribed by the radiologist. Performs procedures as directed by the radiologist. Corrects scans as performed. Demonstrates recognition of anatomy and pathology as related to scan being processed. Performs warm up calibrations. Performs point of care testing.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non‑management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

• Education - Certification Program. Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program
• Experience - No previous experience required

• Team members in this job as of 11/08/2020 are grandfathered from the minimum requirements listed above. Additionally, may be grandfathered from obtaining CT Registration pending state and regulatory requirements.
