Job summary

Unity Point St. Luke's is seeking a Computed Tomography Technologist I to perform diagnostic CT and X-ray exams under radiologist supervision. This full-time night position runs Monday-Thursday from 10pm to 7am, with on-call requirements and potential weekend/holiday coverage.

The role emphasizes compassionate patient care, precise imaging, radiation safety, and collaboration with radiology staff to deliver high-quality studies and timely interpretations.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an ARRT-accredited radiology program approved by IDPH.
  • ARRT Advanced Level CT Certification is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Correlates the CT exam with other tests and preparations for accurate interpretation.
  • Produces high quality imaging for radiologists with precision and efficiency.
  • Assists radiologists and physicians during procedures and maintains safety standards.
  • Maintains radiation protection for patients and staff according to guidelines.
  • Participates in on-call rotation and may work weekends or holidays.

Monday-Thursday 10pm-7am

The Computed Tomography Technologist performs diagnostic Computed Tomography and X‑ray exams (based on department needs) under the direction of a radiologist. The Computed Tomography Technologist I provides compassionate direct patient care with an emphasis on maintaining organizational values and standards of behavior. The Computed Tomography Technologist I operates diagnostic CT and X‑Ray (as appropriate) equipment to produce diagnostic images of designated portions of the body to meet the national standards for dose reduction and assists radiologists and/or physicians in the administration of contrast media and other medications as required. The Computed Tomography Technologist I is required to participate in an on‑call rotation outside of business hours based on department needs and must be able to work some weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Correlates the CT exam with other tests & preparations to best pronounce the disease process.
  • Produces high quality imaging procedures with precision, accuracy, and in a timely manner for the Radiologist to interpret.
  • Assists Radiologists, other physicians & peers with procedures. Is attentive to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence.
  • Is responsible for their own actions and actively works to improve in areas that are lacking.
  • Proactively identifies problems and communicates these concerns with CT Leaders, seeks out new responsibilities, acts on opportunities, generates new ideas, practices self‑development and continuous learning.
  • Practices & monitors radiation protection for patients, employees & oneself during all procedures.
  • Disposes of bodily fluids, hazardous materials, and chemicals in an appropriate manner according to OSHA standards and guidelines.
  • Adheres to hospital & departmental safety regulations, guidelines, policies, procedures & protocols.
Qualifications
Education
  • Graduation of a Radiology program accredited through the American Registry of Radiologic Technology approved by IDPH required.
  • ARRT Advanced Level Certification in CT required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience
  • Three (3) years of prior CT experience preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s)
  • Current, unexpired Iowa Department of Public Health Permit to Practice as a Radiologic Technologist required.
  • Current Certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Radiologic Technologist required.
  • Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) as a Computed Tomography Technologist required.
  • Current CPR certification or obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work‑related reasons required.
