Job summary

Bay Area Hospital in Wyoming is seeking a CT Tech to perform a variety of CT scans for patients of all ages, applying CT principles to deliver reliable results in a fast-paced medical imaging department.

The role requires a radiologic technology program graduate, ARRT CT certification (or within 6 months), BLS, and a year of CT experience preferred; evening shift, full-time, with on-call nights/weekends.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology program in Radiology.
  • Current ARRT CT certification or obtain within 6 months.
  • Current ARRT and OBMI.
  • American Heart Association BLS.
  • Image Wisely pledge or obtain within 30 days of hire and annually.
  • Image Gently pledge or obtain within 30 days of hire and annually.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic CT exams to established standards.
  • Operates CT equipment and scans designated anatomical areas.
  • Reviews orders and protocols for accuracy.
  • Positions and immobilizes patients as required.
  • Administers safe IV injections and monitors IV lines.
  • Reviews completed exams for quality and completeness.
  • Monitors patient during and after scans.
  • Follows safety procedures and universal precautions.
  • Responds to on-call nights/weekends/holidays.
  • Relates with medical staff and maintains policy adherence.
  • Assists in transporting patients.

Job Description:

CT Tech

Performs a variety of CT scans for patients of all ages. Applies principles, theories and techniques of computed tomography scanning to provide reliable scan results. Works with patients of all age groups (neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric).

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs a variety of CT scans for patients of all ages. Applies principles, theories and techniques of computed tomography scanning to provide reliable scan results. Works with patients of all age groups (neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric).

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs diagnostic CT exams with established standards and practices
  • Adjusts and operates computerized equipment to scan designated anatomical areas
  • Reviews physicians orders and protocols
  • Positions, transfers and properly immobilizes patients as required
  • Perform safe I.V. injections as well as monitors and manages I.V.’s
  • Reviews and evaluates completed exams for quality and completeness
  • Monitors patients continually during and after scan
  • Follows safety procedures and guidelines and reports unsafe practices and conditions
  • Must be able to take call nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis including special procedures; must be within 20 minute travel time to the hospital
  • Relates with medical staff maintaining departmental policies, quality assurance, safety, statistics, environmental and infection control
  • Consistently and appropriately follows universal precautions
  • Critiques images
  • Maintains adequate supplies
  • Stays current on CT developments through professional journals, on the job training and other educational opportunities
  • Consults Radiologists as needed
  • Assists in transporting patients
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position.
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
  • Exhibits the ability to deal effectively interdepartmentally and with the public
  • Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision
  • Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES

  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist’s Certification in CT or obtain within 6 months
  • Current ARRT and OBMI
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Image Gently pledge certificate or must obtain within 30 days of hire date and annually by January 30 thereafter
  • Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred
EXPERIENCE
