CT Scan Technologist - Up to $20,000 Sign On Bonus

Summary

Under general supervision, operates a CT scanner and related equipment to produce radiographs, collects patient data, provides assistance to patients and Radiologists, performs calibration and quality control, and maintains records. The role emphasizes patient-centered care considering age-specific needs, cultural patterns, and developmental stages.

Responsibilities

1. Operates CT scanner, checks calibration, and performs tests to ensure proper functioning.
2. Loads program discs, positions patients and equipment, and performs scans using computer commands.
3. Records patient data and verifies charge codes.
4. Screens patients for diet, drug, food sensitivities, and pregnancy to prevent adverse reactions.
5. Prepares supplies and administers contrast media and saline.
6. Monitors patients and equipment during scans, processes films, and performs specialized computer functions.
7. Analyzes equipment issues, performs minor repairs, and arranges for maintenance.
8. Maintains records related to calibration, service, and equipment performance.
9. Provides in-service education and may perform as a Radiologic Technologist as needed.
10. Remains proficient in specialized procedures such as biopsies and ablations.

Minimum Requirements

• Registered with ARRT and in good standing.
• Current CPR certification (AHA BLS).
• RI state radiation license and CT license from DOH.
• Six months of hospital radiology experience plus six months of CT-specific training.
• Knowledge of diagnostic radiologic procedures, computer operation, and equipment troubleshooting.
• Effective interpersonal skills and cultural competence in patient care.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Work in CT area or satellite locations with minimal discomfort, exposed to radiation following safety protocols, requiring standing, walking, pushing, lifting, and patient positioning.
