Job summary

AdventHealth in Lampasas, TX is seeking a PRN CT Technologist to perform high-quality CT exams, educate patients, and maintain accurate documentation. You will operate scanners and injectors safely, following protocols and ALARA principles, while collaborating with radiologists for optimal patient care.

The role requires experience in radiology, CT knowledge, and strong English communication. This position is on-site at our Lampasas facility and supports flexible PRN scheduling.

Qualifications

  • High School Grad or Equiv required.
  • Associate degree in Radiology preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality CT examinations following provider orders and departmental protocols.
  • Educate patients about the exam and obtain informed consent.
  • Operate imaging equipment safely and efficiently, maintaining ALARA principles.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals for appropriate imaging and patient care.

Job Description

PRN Rate: $42.33 Practicing infection control standards and using approved PPE and disinfectant agents. Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams. Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems. Educates patients about the exam and complete all exams in a timely manner, maintaining workflow and minimizing empty table time. Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages. Performs high-quality CT examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis. Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications. Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions. Positions patients accurately and comfortably, using immobilization devices when necessary, while ensuring radiation safety and ALARA principles are maintained. Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensure appropriate imaging and continuity of patient care. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]

  • Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, which addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient population served within the department [Required]

Work Experience
  • 1+ years experience in radiology and completion of CT training program [Preferred]
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Technologist – Radiography RT(R)(ARRT) [Required]
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Computed Tomography RT(CT)(ARRT) [Required]
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
  • Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) - Texas Medical Board (TMB) [Required]
