Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic CT examinations under the direction of a radiologist, ensuring accuracy, safety and timely care. You will manage patient prep, explain procedures, and adhere to radiation safety standards while using PACS and PennChart.

The role requires ARRT, NJ license, and BLS, with 9-hour shifts across four days per week in a collaborative hospital setting and opportunities to train staff and participate in process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Amer Registry Radiologic Tech (Required)
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) (R) & (CT)
  • Radiologic Technologist (Required)
  • NJ DEP License in Diagnostic Radiography
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

Responsibilities

  • Communicates regularly with staff on progress toward defined goals/required results.
  • Exemplifies superior customer service skills and performs service recovery.
  • Foster teamwork around staff, engage employees in the decision-making process when appropriate and values diversity.
  • Proficient in departmental and hospital information technologies such as PACS, PennChart and job specific related areas.
  • Performs all necessary preparations related to CT procedures.
  • Obtains patient history, explains the procedure, and addresses any patient concerns prior to beginning the procedure.
  • Performs all necessary checks for accuracy of the prescription, precertification/authorization if required by individual insurance companies, PennChart order and patient identification.
  • Perform all procedures following the appropriate imaging protocols. All technical factors should be appropriate for the age of the patient with consideration of the tools available for shielding and dose reduction.
  • Compiles and reviews images, provides applicable comparison studies, and prepares documentation for interpretation.
  • Performs quality control testing as required.
  • Clean, adjust and perform routine maintenance on equipment
  • stock and replenish supplies as required.
  • Responsible for coordinating all work assignments including staffing schedules and call schedules. Maintains adequate staffing according to department operating budget.
  • Assists in training and/or instruction of student technologist, new employees and ancillary personnel.
  • Participates in on-call coverage for the department, maintaining a 1-hour response time.
