Job summary

Working Families Party is seeking a Governance Director for Connecticut to lead organizing among elected officials, align policy with a unified platform, and drive legislative strategy. The role demands experience in advocacy, lobbying, and coalition building, with responsibilities for incumbent defense and campaign support.

You will work with WFPower and CTWFPower teams, engage with diverse stakeholders, and be a registered lobbyist in Connecticut.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of relevant professional experience in advocacy, politics, or organising.
• Demonstrated commitment to social, economic, and racial justice.
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with elected officials to pass progressive policy.
• Excellent facilitation and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Organize and run WFPower meetings of elected officials.
• Develop relationships with allied legislators and plan bi-annual retreats.
• Lead coalition work on tax equity, paid family leave, housing, and other priorities.
• Track priority legislation and deliver WFPower testimony.
• Lobby legislators on WFPower priority bills and support campaigns.
• Support incumbent elected officials and recruitment efforts.
• Coordinate endorsements and provide governance support for municipal officials.
