Job summary

Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) is seeking a Regular, full-time employee to join our surgical services team in Florence, AL. Under physician direction, you will assist the surgical team with patient care, instrumentation, and equipment during procedures, ensuring sterile field integrity and effective communication across the team.

Responsibilities include exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative functions, with compliance to hospital policies and regulations.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology First Assist Program.
• Current CPR certification; Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) required.
• Ability to work under physician supervision with the surgical team and ensure sterile field integrity.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the surgical team and assist the surgeon during procedures.
• Maintain communication with circulator, nurse, patient, and anesthesia to ensure patient safety.
• Provide intraoperative support including exposure, hemostasis, closure, and sterile supplies management.

Job Description

In collaboration with the surgical team, and under the direction and supervision of a physician, assumes responsibility for the care and safety of the patients, instrumentation, supplies, and equipment during the surgical procedure. Additionally, assumes responsibility for ensuring effective communication with the circulator, charge nurse, the patient, the surgeon, anesthesia in other hospital departments. Responsible for integrity, safety, and efficiency of the sterile field. Assists in the care of sterile supplies and equipment. Provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe operation. Performs additional duties as directed by the Nurse Manager.

Responsible for compliance to hospital policy and appropriate laws and regulations, as well as those of regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Schedule: 40 hours per week
